The Islamic perspective would go along the lines of good having sent a number of prophets to guide people. And these are the prophets that spawned most religions you know of. Most religions evolved from their original message, and the final prophet/messenger sent down was Muhammad. That is why you'll find that Muslims respect Jesus, Moses, Abraham, etc, as they are all considered to be true prophets, and that is why you'll find many similarities, especially among the abrahamic religions.

The Quran actually holds a special status for Jews and Christians - "the people of the book", and it almost intimates that Muslims, Jews and Christians are all like cousins.
