President of Turkey Strongly Condemns Acts of Racism Against Assistant Coach Basaksehir.

Racism cases have occurred again in the world of football, this time this racist act occurred in the Champions League this season, an action that tarnished the image of the Champions League occurred during the Paris Saint-Germain versus Basaksehir match on Wednesday, 09/12/2020.

The match was stopped in the fourteenth minute, there was a clash between Basaksehir's assistant coach Pierre Webo and the match's fourth official, Sebastian Coteschu, of Romania. According to some media information about the dispute that resulted in Pierre Webo being red carded due to an argument at the sidelines, Webo was furious when Sebastian Coteschu used the term racist negro against him.

The match which took place at the Parc des Princes Stadium had to be postponed for a while, the situation got hotter and fiercer when Basaksehir's Demba Ba also reacted to the fourth referee's actions against his assistant coach. This racist act has received attention from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan strongly condemns the racist act and is furious that his home football club has received racist insults, through his Twitter account he wrote 'Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In fact, according to the news, the number one person in Turkey immediately called and ordered the players to stop the match and not return to the playing field after the great conflict broke out, finally the match was postponed the next day.

Currently the case of racist acts is being handled by UEFA for an investigation, meanwhile Romanian Sports Minister Ionut Stroe has sent a statement of apology on behalf of Romanian sport. "We strongly condemn any expression or statement that could be considered racist," he added.

After the Istanbul Basaksehir players left the match field, PSG players also left the match. This was done by the two teams as a sign of objection to the alleged racist remarks from Sebastian Coltescu to Basaksehir's assistant coach, Pierre Webo.
