White Egret birds
White Egret birds easy to find in wading ditches in area
Perhaps because they’re common and familiar, no one I know gets excited to see an egret. These white wading birds are easy to find in ditches, fields, pond edges, marshes, and wetlands where they can’t help but stand out against all that green and brown. We have numerous species of egret here in Texas but even the largest- the Great Egret- which stands at a respectable 3 feet, doesn’t really seem to generate a lot of interest or appreciation. They’re not like ducks, which can be hunted and so are automatically more interesting, and they don’t really have the same appeal as the shorebirds.
