Active wiki users rewarded with Steem

in #wiki8 years ago (edited)

As a wiki enthusiast I couldn't stop thinking mixing it with Steem since I published the idea of a Wiki host integrated with cryptocurrency.

Searching here I found others steemian's thoughts about a blockchain updated wiki - Can we put Wikipedia under Steem? - and, surprise!, a full wiki launched in august by @someguy123 and annouced in his post STEEM.CENTER - Center of all things STEEM.

Take a look: https://www.steem.center

I've already registered there https://www.steem.center/index.php?title=User:Wagnertamanaha but didn't start collaborating yet.

The first step was done, we already have a wiki, but how integrate it with a Steem reward system fair enough to estimulate users to edit and create new pages?

I'm not a programmer so I have an idea to try doing this by hand.

  1. Create a user @steemcenterwiki (or similar) to start generating Steems and receive transfers and donations
  2. Every aplicant should register his wiki user page showing a Steemit @ username
  3. Every period of time (perhaps 3 months) the @steemcenterwiki would distribute the total of Steems in its wallet to the wiki registered active users, following this suggested formula:
    a ÷ S = u
a = Total of actions of registered wiki users listed in “Active user list” page
S = Total of Steems generated and collected in @steemcenterwiki
u = Unit of value to be tranfered to registered wiki users
  4. Each wiki registered user would receive the unit of value (u) multiplied by the sum of actions he did in the period
  5. After the end of the period and before the distribution @steemcenterwiki would post a list of wiki users and the values that would be tranfered to each one
  6. The user @steemcenterwiki start tranfers the Steems to the steemians registered (item 2), except to the ones flagged in the comments as suspicious or with frauded/useless actions.
  7. Flags and complaints could be decided by a committee of Steem witnesses or wiki most active users of the period

Do you think it could be interesting or viable?

Great idea! I'm the owner of Steem.CENTER - I've just upvoted and re-steemed your post.

I'm very glad you liked the idea. Thinking better I realized that the number of active users would be fair have more weight than the number of actions they did. Do you agree?
Let's try start the project? Do you want to create the user @steemcenterwiki (or similar) or would prefer me doing this?
Thank you very much and good luck to us all.

Hi again!. I've just seen that @busy.org released this new feature Tutorial: Add a vote button on your site using Steem Connect.
I think, if it's possible this code being embeded in every page of Steem.center wiki it could be a quick and easier way to distribute Steem to the registered wiki user. A more descentralized, instant and automous way than make the distribution by hand at least.
I'm not a programmer but I found this instruction using javascript in Wikimedia: Adding HTML to wiki pages. I wonder if the wiki username could be used as a variable, so, to work the Steemit username must be the same.
Perhaps one serious inconvenience would be that it benefits only the user who create or made the last edition on the wiki page.
What do you think?
Congratulations for Steem.center and thanks for your attention again.

Hi, as discussed in this post the @steemcenterwiki has launched! The intro and the rules were published yesterday, first day of the year, thanks for your aproval! Happy 2017 and good luck for us all!

It would be great to collaborate on this. And by collaborate, I mean everyone working together on this simultaneously as a hive.

If you still want to collaborate we proudly announce that @steemcenterwiki has launched! The intro and the rules were published yesterday, 1/1/2017! Happy new years and good luck for us all!

This is great. The possibilities of incorporating cryptocurrency into other sites is endless and who wouldnt want to be paid for posting things online. Hopefully we see this idea spread I'd love to see if it actually gives people an incentive to produce better content.

Happy new years! @steemcenterwiki has launched! The intro and the rules were published yesterday, first day of 2017! Thanks for your support and good luck for us all again!
