CANOPY WALK WAY IN KAKUM FOREST : GHANA

Kakum National Park is a tourist forest located in the Central Region of Ghana. It was officially announced to be a national park in 1992.. It is one of only 2 places in Africa with a canopy walkway, and connects seven tree tops which giving access to the forest.

The fauna of the park includes Elephants (Loxodonta africana cyclotis), Demidoff's galago (Galago demidovii), potto (Perodicticus potto),two-spotted palm civet (Nandinia binotata), African civet (Viverra civetta), Bongo (Tragelaphus euryceros), Leopard (Panthera pardus), many species of duikers (small antelopes), Red river hog (Potamochoerus porcus pictus), Giant forest hog (Hylochoerus meinertzhageni), Dwarf crocodile (Osteolamus tetraspis), Monitor lizards, Home's hinged tortoise, Long-tailed pangolin (Manis tetradactyla), White-belied pangolin (Manis tricuspis), Giant pangolin (Manis gigantea), many species of forest squirrels, North African crested porcupine (Hystrix cristata).
266 species of birds confirmed in the park including eight species of global conservation concern. It is very rich in butterflies as well. As at 2012, reports shows that the densest population of forest elephants in Ghana is in Kakum.

The forest has 7 long series of hanging bridges known as the Kakum Canopy Walkway which gives access to the forest,
The forest has Tree House which sits about 20 metres from the forest floor in the trees. This facility houses about 25 people provides an adventurous opportunity for campers to especially at night experience forest life. There are trained Tour Guiders who are always available to take campers on the night hikes as well as sharing Folklore of the Kakum Forest by a bonfire.
