Windows Anniversary Update or You had me at bash
The Windows anniversary update is finally out, and it is amazing. I never thought I would see the day that the Linux bash shell would be available on Windows. After all the years of dual boots that took hours to configure, virtual machines that hogged ram and resources, and just plain old separate devices, Canonical and Microsoft have partnered to produce what is one of the most surprising additions to the Windows operating system in years. Apparently, you can even run Unity (personally I prefer Cinnamon, but to each his own), although there are a few limitations.
There's also a new dark theme which is much easier on the eyes, and activation troubleshooter, which I'm hoping helps to resolve some of the issues I've been having updating some of my PCs to Windows 10. They're some changes to Cortana and a few other things that won't really jump out at anyone, but that should help to improve the overall experience, when coupled with the tweaks to the start menu.
The other new feature that I haven't had the chance to play around with, that sounds really interesting is the new Connect app. It looks extremely promising, but I can't give it my stamp of approval without trying it out first.
There's a lot more, but those are the features that stood out for me. Those of you that upgraded early, or have been on the Windows insider program, and were using these features for months can post and let us know what stands out for you, and what important new features I haven't mentioned.
