Building Steem's value layer upon layer

Steemfest3 by @roelandp (and team) in Krakow, Poland, was a superb event that added to the solidity of the foundations upon which Steem's value is built.

Steemfest is about building community and, as this slide from @techslut's presentation about Utopian reminds us, community is everything

Half of @lux-witness was present at Steemfest and even gave a short talk illustrating the power of the steem ecosystem:

1. the technology on one hand, including the features of the blockchain and the baked-in unique cryptoeconomics
2. the community aspect - notably with the role of @utopian-io as (one of?) the most powerful application as of this date

I would like to stress this here again - the value of STEEM lies not only in its outstanding technology. The technology is just the first layer - a very important one, but it wouldn't be nearly enough as the little adoption affecting other blockchain projects show well enough.

On top of the technology come the communities which assemble often around the original Steemit.com app or subsequent dApps.

At the beginning, most of the witnesses were computer professionals focusing on the technology, on the blockchain layer. Now most of these dApps building communities are also taking a commitment to the future of the blockchain by becoming witnesses themselves. Utopian is even in the Top 20 I believe.

Lux-witness in turn is a "third layer witness", one that, by connecting the steem dApps with the "outside world" tries to help them develop and thrive for the implicit promise of steem, bringing happiness and prosperity to as many people as possible, to become reality
