WITNESS WEEKLY @ 14 May 2021

in #witness-category4 years ago

I hope people found the first edition of Witness Weekly that I posted last week useful.

It was certainly an interesting post to research and compile.

I have learnt a great deal about the current witnesses from doing this, and I hope to continue discovering a lot more.

With the central role the Witnesses play for the Steem blockchain it will be really good if we start to hear more from Witnesses.

If any witnesses have any information they would like to share feel free to contact me on Discord (Pennsif#9921) or leave a comment below.

The Current Top 20 Witnesses

There has been one major movement with the witnesses this week.

@steem-supporter has dropped out of the top 20 and is now down at #32.

@rlawlstn123 moved into the top rankings at #19.

@rlawlstn123 appears to be a Korean who likes movies and Netflix dramas. His/her blog does not give much more information other than that.

This is @rlawlstn123's post from April 2020 announcing the witness...

As a new Top 20 witness the community would love to know more about you @rlawlstn123?

Any chance of an update / introductory post? Thank you.

@successgr.with is currently at #35 in the witness list.

The other recently started witness @xpilar.witness has now moved up to #36 on the witness list.

Witnesses News & Updates

@steemchiller produced some very useful stats for @pennsif showing the breakdown of Redfish, Minnows, Dolphins, Orcas and Whales. These figures were featured in this Steem News post (item #2 and the second comment)...

It will be great if we can obtain these figures on a regular basis as they are a useful metric for judging the health of the platform.

@justyy (#2) has put out several technical posts this week including...

He has also posted the stats showing that the SteemYY.com registration service is now the second largest account creator for Steem...

@steem-agora (#3) makes daily posts for their 500 SP power-up voting service, and also regularly supports @etainclub in his development of PLAY STEEM.

@symbionts (#7) have given an update on Ecosynthesizer's new facility for viewing pages...

@symbionts runs the @ecosynthesizer curation project, the ecosynthesizer.com multi-chain block explorer and the

@steem.history reported on the problem that was affecting the Steemit Wallet recently...

@steem.history also sponsors the monthly SPUD4STEEM Power Up contest run by @kiwiscanfly. (@xpilar also sponsors this contest).

@ayogom, who runs the @rnt1 witness (#10) (@zzan.witnesses), puts out daily posts on a variety of Steem related topics including this week...

@ayogom also reported on the issue affecting the Steemit Wallet that has now been resolved...

@wherein, who runs the @smt-wherein witness (#15) and the @nutbox witness (#41), is mainly working on the PNUT project. It released more news on the PNUT airdrop this week...

@steem-supporter (#32) reported earlier in the week that he is setting up a full API server with MIRA...

I hope people find this new Witness Weekly digest useful to learn what the Steem witnesses are doing.

It will take a while to track down all the witness information. My apologies to any witnesses who I have missed. Please comment below on anything I have missed or contact me on Discord (Pennsif#9921).

In the meantime do remember to vote for witnesses...

Thank you

Very interesting! Thanks.

Thanks for taking this on @pennsif! It is much needed, as I really know very few of the witnesses these days, except for @steemchiller and @xpilar. I like to know who I am voting for, before casting witness votes...

I am hoping we will hear more from the witnesses...

Thank you to bringing up this. Some of the top witneses are not contributing anything significant. I wonder who voted for them.

There used to be a tool to easily see who has voted for each witness.

I am not sure of the best way to see that now.

Probably @steemchiller could get us with that.

You can see the votes on https://steemworld.org/witnesses by clicking on the chart button:

@maxwellmarcusart

That is perfect - I hadn't spotted that before.

Thank you

Hi, this is cool. Thanks for the link.

Thanks for the updates, it's helpful

You are welcome.
