Call for witness support
I usually don't post in this category except when there's something to report, but the lack of marketing seems to hurt my standing as a witness. I've just been dropped out repeatedly, and somehow I feel that some people are not up to date with what I do for the platform.
Most of you know and appreciate my efforts to create useful tools while at the same time trying to spread distribution as wide as it's possible with my stake. My voting is done without regard to the possible curation rewards, the main goal is to give small amounts to as many original authors as possible.
Besides that I run several services ( steeminvite, steemdice ), finance the progress of PEvO, run a full rpc node, sponsor meetups and steemfests, act as an advisor to several projects, recruit new members and generally am available for questions from the community as well as outsiders.
All these projects cost a lot of time and money, and while I'm definitely able to run them at a loss for a while (which is happening right now), I have to consider how the community shows their appreciation. If they value a witness who sells their votes and generally only runs for-profit projects higher than those who focus on the broader picture it'd be silly to continue these efforts. @ned said it's a free market. Maybe I'm stupid and should just try to make the most for me, as that's what benefits everyone the most according to a theory which is pretty popular here?
I'm always open for criticism and discussions, but all the way down nobody explained the removal of their vote to me. I don't follow who votes or not, as I am fully convinced that's everyone's own decision. But if you missed voting for me by accident, please do that now to get me back up into the top 20 and secure the long term availability of my work. You can be assured there's more in the pipe, although I don't do announcements I'm working on several new projects right now.
Sorry for the begging post, but this is kind of necessary, and imo still better than regularly draining the reward pool by posting announcements for stuff that's not yet or never available (or worse) to keep getting votes. If you're unsure about anything, chat me up, or post a comment here. I'm glad to hear where I could do better to gain (back) your support!
If it turns out that I won't get back up I'll definitely keep everything up for a few more months, but cut back on further developments.
Looking forward to your feedback!
You're one of the best quality people on Steemit and have been since the beginning. During that time, you've helped encourage people and nurture programs that help reward good content. You've also given of your time and skills to help solve problems, such as the recent example of a need for faster accounts for a large event. I hope your dream of PEvO is completely fulfilled someday. You have my witness vote for sure.
You expressed my thoughts! YES!
Vote or die lol
I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to like my post I really appreciate steem on my friend.
I´m quite new here.. @pharesim, I´d like to support you, but am not sure of the procedure... there are 50 witnesses to choose from, I have set a proxy before but didn´t vote anyone from the 50 accounts listed. The process says I should clear the proxy first to choose and vote manually. I voted for you but am not sure whether it counted. Below the 50 accounts list, it says I could vote a witness that is outside the 50. Where can I check whether my vote for you counted?
To remove your proxy, delete the name that you have listed in the text field next to the "PROXY" button. That should pop up a dialogue confirming you want to remove your proxy. Once your proxy is removed, just click on the upvote button next to his name :)
Thats true!
This is a great comment because it points out contributions of real value but is also coming from a very trustworthy and major contributor to this community. So thank you for taking the time to post this here for everyone else to see.

I agree 100000%

By looking at this post you guys will know if he is one of the best quality people on steemit or it is just in smog.
May be I will get my 33.645 STEEM back & other victims of STEEMDICE game get their money back because of steemdice not working ethically or with issues.
Problem in brief : Bet amount after a random number of times goes out of the game : it goes to @steemdice but it is supposed to be either with @"player" or @steemdice1, When it goes to someother account instead of @steemdice1 get is lost! because there is no "BET" then. The player does not get the win amount or 0.001 for the lost bet.
So it would be better is this issue is resolved.
Look at my post of the detailed explanation of the issue with proofs!
Are you playing on steemdice.net?
This is virtually impossible to happen there.
See https://github.com/pharesim/steemdice/blob/gh-pages/js/app.js#L201 and L2 for reference.
It is of course possible to send to the other account using another wallet, or you were on a phishing site. I have no idea who the steemdice account belongs to, but as it was created long before steemdice1 I would expect it to be a name grapper, not a phisher...
If you can rule out the possibility of a typo on your end I highly recommend changing your active key/password and make sure you're on the github pages version which steemdice.net redirects to in the future.
I always have played on " https://pharesim.github.io/steemdice/ "
Which you have created, its not supposed to be a phishing site. Also for your kind information I already have gone through the code of steemdice. I have no doubt on its functions. The thing is "there" is an issue I don't know the reason behind it, before raising it an issue on your post as a comment I checked all the possible sources of this problem but could not find one. And you need to go through this post which have some screenshots of @steemdice1 wallet transfer and @"player" wallet transfer, which clearly says the player was playing on the steemdice web version which you created not some other & the screenshots shows that there is issue which I raised in the last comment of mine. I am not here to criticize, even I am the part of this community. As you created this game for steem/sbd, it can happen that you may find the issue so I tried to contact you.
Thanks @pharesim for your response and expecting that you try to understand the issue here.

Your bet was clearly sent manually, not on steemdice.net, as it lacks the UI string. It's not a proof that the site was used to play when it's there, but if it's not you clearly played in another way. And you even said it was a typo in your messages to the account!
is obviously a lie!
If you don't stop blaming the service for your own mistake I will start flagging your posts and comments about it.
And here's the proof that another account you call 'victim' plays manually - a "longer" type bet does not exist
How did raising a issue/doubt about the service you created, to have a sense of satisfaction can be called as a "blaming" & if a doubt about it can make you trigger flagging posts & comments then I think you have a serious problem and you should stop being a service creator if you cant handle the users for their user experience of your services. JUST STOP BEGGING FOR WITNESS ok!
Witness should also behave like a human not just a machine learning coder with all other technical requirements that are satisfied.
Enough! I thought you were the right person to have the talk about it. But you made me realized that rather solving the problem or clarifying the doubt, you could also start "flagging" so there is no sense in posting any comment or discussion with you.
You said you were a victim of the service, but in the end it showed you just made a typo.
You also tried to drag my name down with this
It's your fault that your money is gone, and by saying you only played on the official site (which was a LIE!) you made it look like it wasn't. What's there to discuss? What was your goal? Getting back the money you sent to someone else from me? Make it look like I'd need to go after your few meager SBDs?
I've seen the screenshots, but they don't prove anything. The ui string in the memo can be set like that by anyone, it doesn't necessarily mean the site was used to play.
It's good that you're sure you haven't been on a phishing site, but it's still impossible for that to happen on the real site. The bank account is hardcoded and won't change by itself.
@pharesim
Please recheck the screenshots because it proves the victims were playing on your website : Because the amount was transferred to @steemdice1(the account used as bank on steemdice.net) just before and just after when it was transferred to @steemdice (which is not the account it is supposed to go) meaning that something went wrong in that particular bet.
For your ready reference please check this screenshot. A new victim maybe!
I think steemit is of the age where self promotion is necessary. You have a lot of new members who don't know anything about voting for witnesses and then you have other social movers (name rhymes with merryhanfield) who never stop promoting themselves for witness. I think this is something all witnesses should do, not as a form of begging, just a way to show the community who they are and why they deserve our vote.
Next time you post about your witness vote though, please go into more detail as to what these initiatives are that you help run, just putting the titles up without an explanation doesn't help me make a connection. Anyways, I've already voted for you because I see the huge value you bring, but others may not and that's why you need to elaborate and be more vocal when it comes to securing enough votes for you to stay inside the top 20
Thank you for the advice. I've never been a great marketer, and it's not the first time this becomes a problem. But the times before I didn't care that much much personally :D
It seems weird to me to constantly promote myself, but I'll try to do better from now on.
^ I second @jasonshick's comment.
I have continued to vote for you because I know you do stuff behind the scenes, but a lot of the community is not really aware of what goes on behind the scenes. I think that doing regular witness reports is an important part of being a witness, because it helps everyone know what you are up to. In addition to helping to promote you, it also does the service of educating the community about what the witnesses are up to, and clearing the misconception that the top witnesses are just sitting around producing blocks :)
I don't believe it's that easy really. Getting to the top is all about whale votes, and these are too often political.
Neither making the rpc node a publicly available cluster nor steeminvite changed anything about my drop down, actually the first time I dropped out was just a few days after releasing the latter.
I agree. It's not as easy as news alone.
It isn't, and that's for certain. On the other hand, user engagement creates name recognition. And reputation in the form of name recognition goes a very long way to securing your position.
Preaching to the choir my friend. But even as well known as I am on the platform, and with the humanitarian aid project everyone loves at first sight, I don't have a pocket full of back-slapping whales and old school buddies to make things happen, and the people that support, en masse, pretty much don't add up to a whale by themselves in total. So you can get name recognition all day, get a couple hundred witness votes and still go no where, because you aren't in the "circles" that move things. Someone like @timcliff is a total outlier who has gotten where he is on sheer hard work, contributions and a ceaseless presence. Outside of him, and a few top wits who have really SOLID contributions to the network for ALL to use, there is definitely a club at the top that is very very hard to break into at this point without a ton of imported money or some serious asskissing politics. And I'm not bitter, not in the slightest. I was ON that path and could have stayed on it, I just hated how filthy dirty it felt, and I'm much happier now climbing back up on merit rather than bullshit boosts from people who loved to use my name for profit but when it came down to brass tacks had zero real loyalty to principle and 100% loyalty to money and their precariously built positions.
Every once in a while its good to remind the people, especially when there are many other witnesses competing against you for those valued top 20 spots
A 'necesary evil' i am afraid, it is a 'social' network even while being raped by those that currently control it.
Exactly same thoughts here and know what you feel. Anyways I am voting you for such a bad marketing guy ;-)
seriously, I can't believe people are voting because of the delegations some are renting and dropping the witnesses who are doing what's best for the Steemians ..
by the way, those who are renting SP are charging 18 to 24% that's a very very bad debt peeps, the banks you hate are only charging 10% - the rent for these SP delegations are too high
plus .. if the SP delegations continue ..Steem might keep dropping cause who'd buy in the market when you can just rent it here
no market transaction = what do you think? Price soaring high or devalued Steem? am not an economist but what do you think?
I guess not many understand what you all do and I can't believe my eyes that witnesses like you, abit and smooth are dropping off top 20 seriously? I hope people are not just voting witnesses because they are famous outside the Steemit - that would be very very naive ..
perhaps you guys should do more of the weekly posting of what you guys do and btw, please include it on the table how many blocks each of you didn't not miss .. showing only the blocks you guys missed make the long time witnesses look like they're slacking and the new ones holy moly great which on the contrary is not .. and voting for a witness just cause they are often trending - it's a joke!
You, pfunk, smooth, abit and all of those in my witnesses voted list shall always have my vote
edit : upvoted for visibility
I am glad that you are posting this as I think that many in the community see your bump in their voting list but don't know what you actually do.
From my perspective from the get go you have been one of the most down to earth and humble people (let alone witness) that I have met at Steemit and your voting philosophy and manually curated trails is something everyone should value and be grateful for.
I will do my best to round up support for you as well. It is crazy if you are not there considering how you operate.
That's good enough for me.
I love you too! :*
I think too many witnesses are "afraid" to post when there is "nothing new" to report. It's better to keep people informed than to let them guess. I'd love to see more posts from you regarding the progress of the peer reviewed research incentivised by Steem project. That's a huge move to distrupt a corrupt establishment... Please post more witness updates even just to repeat what's been said, we can't just know what you are doing!!!! So good to meet you at steemfest!!!!
Meh, that's pretty lame. Even with my small stake I often take the time to write the witnesses I unvote a DM at least.
Anyway, thanks for everything you do for the platform.
Its crazy acidyo, this guy is the rewarder of good content, he deserves explanation from those removing him,
I really reason from your angle, its too lame removing him unexplained.
Agree 110%. I'm in a smaller boat than you, but if I were to remove my vote from someone, I'd at least try to let them know why. I would hope the people that vote for me could extend the same courtesy.
You definitely have my vote, however small it might be.
tell me how I can support you and give you my witness vote (I'm relatively new)
I have not had support, but I know that curing content is not easy and it is better to contribute to those who selflessly support. Count on me
click on the 3 bars at the top right corner of Steemit profile and scroll down to "Vote for Witness." Assign your vote from the list, you will need to put in your key to process the vote ;)
Thanks friend. I already voted, I succeed @pharesim
Way to help!
I already supported thanks @papa-pepper (nice nickname)
Thank you for posting @pharesim.
It is very important we have information from which to make a decision to vote for witnesses.
It seems witnesses are reluctant to put information out for Steemians to review.....perhaps someone will take it upon themselves to interview the various witnesses.
Even an objective checklist would be helpful.
How does one know who has Steemian's interest in mind?
There are those who compare the updated nodes....it seems like that is important but is it?
Wishing you all the best. Cheers.
Actually a lot of people interview witnesses, when I was with MSP Waves Radio (which I built and then later resigned from) we did it all the time and they still do. Another witness @anarcho-andrei has a weekly show featuring witnesses every week, and I am launching a new series along those lines soon too on my new streaming network as well. Further, there are a LOT of people interviewing witnesses in their blogs, like @steembusiness does. I know this, because several people over the past few months have interviewed me and some of my peers and I see the blogs go by with others as well.
So, it's happening, you just gotta keep an ear out :D
If you want to know for example what most witnesses are doing, we do post updates, most of us anyway, and I can tell you that while I am not the most prolific author or the most self promoting, my blog is pretty much ALL articles about the projects and work Im doing in and with the community here.
Not trying to snark or argue but I felt it prudent to let you know that yes, there are LOTS of interviews happening and floating around all the time!
Thank you for your thoughtful reply sircork.
Appreciate the information.
All the best to you and your endeavours. Cheers.
Hang on - if you did NOT give @pharesim a witness vote you shall die from shame! There are witnesses that just get votes from their following they gathered on the platforms, some by useless self promotion shit. A Witness on Steemit is responsible that this blockchain runs - these people need to have technical skills and require reliability. So this guy is your first choice! Go and Do your VOTE -Now!! Resteemed. And thanks for what you do for the community.
