RE: Steem after HF20 - "Quo vadis?"

Thanks for writing this... I read something similar in Freakonomics about the perverse incentive of small rewards vs gift labour.

It also conerns me that steeminc seem to be in a cultural bubble where they assess everything in purely financial and quantitative terms.

As far as I'm aware they do zero market research with 'ordinary' users let alone potential users.

What they seem to fail to realise is that there simply aren't that many people like them out there and that 'ordinary people' don't appear to be that interested in using steem.

DAU have been falling for a long time now. No surprise if you ask me.

Yes, it took myself some time and effort to realize that too. I've introduced several bright friends from different walks of life to Steemit and ... it's only been a mirror for me to see how weird I am for feeling passionately about this system!

I was thinking that my friends would hail the discovery of Steemit as the second coming or something, that it was all they were waiting for! ... What a disappointment when I saw in their eyes that they didn't understand what I found so special about this "user-unfriendly" blogging platform ...

Crikey.. and I had you down as one of the more 'normal' people on here... as in you seem to have a grasp on the real world rather than being stuck in a tech bubble.

I'm not surprised by the lack of interest. Of 250 people in my workplace, 2 of us have any crypto. The other guy manages the databases. He doesn't do steem.

We are all on a spectrum ... I'm about as "normal" as Michael Burry

Oh me too and fair play. I was only trying to highlight how marginal steemincs value system is.

However, given that the model taps into the base human instinct of selfishness, there's every chance it'll succeed!

Personally I'll be happy if steem buys me a year.
