My guilty pleasure...
OK, well I'm sorta addicted to this Steemit thing. I fully admit that. I run a support group for it called Minnow Support. We meet everyday 24/7 on Discord to deal with our addiction to Steemit. We have just shy of 4,000 minnows in there. It's pretty awesome. https://discord.gg/HYj4yvw
Anyway, I'm addicted to steemit tools too. I check steemdb.com at least once an hour to see what's going on. Mostly, I'm looking at votes and what not coming through, and I also like to see how my witness campaign is going. I start with checking for new votes.
I like to check my total vote count.
and I like to see how I'm doing in terms of over all stake weighted votes for me.
The glee
So, today was amazing because I moved into position 44. Keeping my steady climb going, but that was a surprise to this post and off topic.
What I really like and what I look for most... I like the time periods where I don't get new votes, but the stake weight goes up. I got a lot of minnows that I look after. Many of them choose to vote for me. So, when my total goes up but my vote count stays the same I'm watching the people that vote for me growing their account.
A promise made is a debt unpaid
I haven't made many promises on here. I hold pretty tight to values of peace, abundance, and liberty. I promise to help growth hack steemit and retain minnows by creating a support network around them. My one campaign promise beyond that was to be better than a dead witness.
Anyway, I like seeing that happen because it means I'm holding up my end of the bargain. While it's only a sample of the minnows in "the pond" it's good enough for me to sleep easy. And you can tell by the fact that the Minnowsupport discord is gonna hit 4k by this weekend that we're helping. I'm honored to serve and gleeful to see the minnows growing.
Good times,
Witness 44,
Aggroed
I totally understand the addiction. My laptop is open to the PALnet MSP Discord channel approximately 18 hours a day. I'm fortunate that the work I do allows me to be active online. The growth of our PALnet community is exponential. Empowered minnows are motivated minnows. I've seen very few MSP projects fail. (Come to think of it--have I seen any MSP projects fail?)
Some prominent person in the Steemit community made a statement once that I read. For the life of me, I can't remember his name to give him proper credit. Someone will know, so please make sure this gets the right attribution. He said: "The quickest way to become a whale is to help 100 minnows become dolphins."
Folks, I've got news for you--Aggroed is about to embody that theory. Because if 100 minnows becoming dolphins can make a whale. . .what's going to happen when 4,000 minnows become dolphins? But let me add one more thought to this: that wasn't even the goal. 4,000 minnows aren't swimming in Aggroed's wake because he schemed to become a whale. 4,000 minnows are swimming in Aggroed's wake because his priorities are in order. A direct quote from Aggroed: "It's more fun to give." And it isn't just lip service. 4,000 minnows have watched him live this mantra every day.
I made a post today about how Steemit is a game-changer and life-saver for me. Truth is, this probably wouldn't have been the case had I not stumbled into the PALnet minnowsupport chat and decided to make it my permanent address. I would have taken my toys and gone home long ago. But it did happen, and my circumstances have changed for the better. So yes--I understand the addiction. It's one that actually makes sense.
Rho. You're amazing. Thanks for being here!
I mean she said it all. Plus, I just love ya!
So well written that you received a manual shanehug!
AWWWW! I heart Shane. :-) Thank you!
So well said.
Minnows unite. Great use of the available tools so far. Keep it up.
The work you have done so far and continue to do is amazing.
My constant mocking of you in stories to promote the minnowsupportproject is done out of respect as I'm sure you're aware. Zoolander next!? 😂
Your support and encouragement gave me the leg up I needed at a time when I wasn't sure I'd ever get noticed and won't ever be forgotten.
Real friends dude, that's what it's all about.
Champagne for real friends and real pain for sham friends.
I was finding it cumbersome knowing what minnows are. But it's easier being here.
Good, keep up :)
The @minnowsupport program is really cool, especially for people such as myself who regularly checks the platform. I've met some very cool users and have had the chance to learn more about delegating to specific/general groups to help others out, I think that's a really cool idea.
Thanks dude. It takes a lot of people to make that place run and be awesome. Thanks for your words of encouragement!
wwwwwhhhhhhaaaaattttt??????
My friends always make fun of me because I pull out my laptop and go on here to either post or read through posts! I need this support group! 😂
One Minnow sees what you do. I Fully Recommend the Discord, many hours of cheerful chat and many new friends to meet. One day we little minnows who connect because of you, will be the framework, the core, of the next generation of minnow helpers.
Good work and take all the Peaches you deserve!
I'll hit you with a follow for this. Nice comment. Thanks for being here!
your welcome. and thanks for the follow. If you've got 5 mins my intro post is not terrible! lol See you in discord.
I still don't understand what is witness and why people need to be one ?
we literally assemble the blockchain with servers we operate. Witnesses vote on settings that dictate a variety of functions around here like size per block or the price of the currencies for post reward calcs etc. People also have a variety of projects they work on. Some are like good karma who created esteem. Some are like gtg that manages a lot of infrastructure. Tim Cliff helps in steemit chat for help all the time. Riverhead built steemit chat. I run a group for ~4000 minnows to work together and grow together. If you like their work and their projects than toss them an upvote.
I really need to look into what witness is apparently, I had no idea idea it had to do with stuff like this, lol.
@witness 44 ! I just voted for you! You are doing a great job. Thank you very much.
Thanks Peter! You're awesome!
That is a great channel you have there on discord app. I have joined it some time ago and It really helped me alot to mix up with fellow steemians.
Being a minnow is very hard on steemit because you never get noticed. We need exposure and without it our content is as good as dead.
I am actually working with some minnows to start a voting bot which would freely vote on minnows posts. I just hope everything should go as expected .
A bg thumbs up for your work @aggroed.
