RE: Jerry Banfield sold his witness account and is now producing
Thanks for your enthusiasm but me reaching out to Jerry was my last attempt at trying to get anything done on this chain. It ends up being a time waster. I have been here since July of 2016 and have seen problem after problem. In general the witnesses in power here don't really care about what I have to say. Personally I think most of us are better off focusing on EOS at this point.
You make no sense. It has taken 20 HF and a few years to try and fix Steemit and you jump ship to Dan's new broken item which he will walk away from as soon as the problems start like he does with every project?
Have fun spending the next 5 years trying to fix EOS.
I'm not jumping ship to anywhere. I'm saying that it likely doesn't make sense to run a Witness node on this chain because those in power will seek to remain in power. With the amount of ram required you can easily spend $160 / month running it and if you want to be in the top 20 it would make sense to try to run a seed node also to convince people of power to possibly vote for you. So factor in $320 / month. Well a few months of doing that and trying to campaign to the God kings it will get old real fast.
Every project has it's issues including EOS. EOS is an open slate with 0.5s block times and is already cranking up the transactions.
Anyone can take the EOSIO software and build their own product on it. STEEM as well is open source so people can take the code base and expand on it.
I see our thoughts on being a witness are 100% different. I am in no need of the money so I don't care of the cost and want to make a community upvoter with what the witness makes. It should be a zero profit job if truly done for the good of the community, just as users should not self-vote in my opinion.
"because those in power will seek to remain in power."
??? You mean Steemit is NOT decentralized? Oh, that's news! 🙄EOS is shit
