I humbly welcome you my new series, where we're going to pick a renowned female chess player every Wednesday and tell you about her biography, achievements and career.
Please tighten your seat belt as we proceed.
Today our case study is on a gorgeous and powerful chess prodigy, queen and goddess. Her name is GM Susan Polgar. She is an Hungarian born American chess player, a force to reckon with in the chess World. She was born to the family of MR and MRS Polgar on the 19th of April 1969. In addition her native name is Polgar Zsuzsanna. At the age of 15, she broke all gender barrier in the game of chess by being the First Lady to qualify for the "Men's" world championship in 1986.
Furthermore, she went on to become the Women's world champion in 1992 to 1999. She won the world blitz and rapid in 1992 and has currently attained a Fide Rating of 2577. This wonderful female personnel has achieved alot in life and this made her a chairperson in Women chess association in Fide, the world chess body.
Susan polgar opened a chess center in 1997 at forest hills to help promote and educate chess amongst children, but unfortunately, the center closed in 2009 due to her relocation to Texas Tech University Lubbock.
Moreso, Susan Polgar has a chess institute at the Webster University called the Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence (SPICE) and was also the head coach for the National championship for college chess teams in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. She also coducts National opens for boys and girls and world opens for boys and girls. Finally, in addition to her wardrobe of achievements, she has won ten Olympic medals 🏅 (5golds 4silver 1 bronze). Susan polgar is someone you can be proud of to call a mother or mentor.
