Word Poetry Challenge #1: Green Leaves
two kids collided when things felt right
and the sun shone brightly
without clouds lurking beside.
the leaves were green,
like the shade of my eyes,
strange how you loved them so,
now the color green
just isn’t your type.
winter comes and the flowers shrivel and curl,
then spring pushes through
and brings to you
a new girl.
two kids falling in love beneath sunshine,
they thought that though summer died,
their hearts would not run dry.
I pluck the leaves, green again,
pull them off their fragile stems,
strange how these plants just grow,
and grow,
even when they’re picked apart
and left behind,
just like I.
