Word Poetry Challenge #1: Green Leaves
The moment I touched you
I knew it was the changing of seasons
Yet for a multitude of reasons I couldn’t let you grow (go)
We were together through the best of times
And on you the sun would shine
Your very essence would chlorophyll me with greed
Green leaves.
Our age began to show
And your blades would cut deep
No one could begin to know my sorrow
Both entrapped with in the sy\stem
Of science, technology, engineering, math
Yet we couldn’t even agree on global warming
Green leaves..
I remember your pigmentation
When there was that new flirtation
Maybe your veins would make you blush
A sudden rush of synthesis
Between you and me
To now be only left with a photo
Of green leaves…
