4 Top Reasons to Use WordPress

in #wordpress7 years ago

Here are my 4 top reasons to use WordPress as your website content management system.

1. Large Worldwide Community

There is a huge support network and community for WordPress. There are currently over 100,000 WordPress developers in the world and the user base is even bigger. There are regular Meetups and WordCamps around the world, where users and developers come together to discuss and help to build the open source software. It is truly amazing to be a part of.

I have built up my WordPress skills from speaking to WordPress experts, reading and testing various things. I was able to find relevant instructions very easily on the web / Google and by joining Facebook pages to speak to other community members.

2. Search Engine Friendly (Great for SEO)

Search Engines love WordPress. It is coded in such a way that makes crawling and indexing the website very easy. There are many great plugins to assist with creating effective meta titles and meta descriptions very efficiently. I have witnesses many client sites getting great rankings on Google and hence get more business out of it.

3. Scalable

WordPress can cater for small blogs or large Government or corporate websites. There is no limit to what WordPress is capable of.

At this time of writing, on WordPress.org, there are 52,197 free or lite version plugins available and growing. Plugins extend the functionality of any WordPress website. There are many more plugins available that are offered as premium paid plugins not listed. Not that you would ever install that many, nor even use many of them in a general website. It just goes to show, the passion of the community and how it is possible to grow any website from a simple blog site to an large Ecommerce website for example.

You can find plugins that add shopping carts, such as Woocommerce, or add simple or advanced forms such as Gravity Forms (paid plugin), or even the ability to auto post blog posts to popular Social Networks, called Social Network Auto Poster.

There is a plugin for every need. Take a look through the WordPress.org repository or simple Googling your specific need such as "Add social like box WordPress" and you will see how many there are.

There are not only plugins, but hundreds of thousands of free and paid themes, or skins to make the website look and feel great. I encourage anyone to checkout the Divi theme from Elegant Themes. We use it all the time in our developments and the clients love the ease of use.

4. Easy Learning Curve

WordPress is very easy to learn how to manage. There are plenty of online tutorials to help you get started or even something a little more challenging for more advanced users. No matter what level you are at, you can start with WordPress and become a pro over time. Of course it will take you time if you are starting out, but if you were to use any other content management system, it will take you alot longer.
