History simulation №1 - World War III
The history of mankind is one of my favourite hobbies. Especially military history and here is one of my views for begining of World War III. So I made a FB page - History simulations and alternatives ...you can see also there for more...
The Third World War broke out on November 27th 1984. A small incident at Checkpoint Charlie led to an escalation between the two super powers Warsaw Pact and NATO. Fierce fighting in West Berlin reported:
Events occur with unexpected swiftness. While NATO countries organized an emergency meeting, the totalitarian centralized command of the USSR has already rolled Warsaw Pact forces on full alert.
While making diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis, the United States urgently transferred troops in West Berlin. These actions are taken as aggression by NATO.
Parts of the Soviet army traveling to their pre-designated positions.
Serious disputes in the headquarters of the United Nations prevented the announcement of a resolution.
November 28. NATO members can not take a joint decision on full-scale war with the Soviet Union. Britain and France insists on localization of the conflict and its diplomatic settlement. Heavy bureaucracy prevents the Alliance to take quick and adequate measures.
Soviet and Nato leaders blame each other for the conflict. On a meeting of the Politburo, the KGB informs the Soviet leadership that NATO is not ready to deploy sufficient forces in time.
Secret meeting in the late hours of 28-th November. If NATO does not withdraw its troops from the Berlin Wall. In the morning of 29th, the Red Army will receive orders for full-scale attack. The use of nucklear weapons is not option...for now.
November 29, East Germany. Soviet army launch its offensive against the West.
Seven Days to the River Rhine - This is the name of the Soviet operation - 1-st step of the plan Two weeks to the Atlantic.
November 29, Mediterranean. Parallel with the ground operation, the Soviet Air Force attacks US Navy targets.
Soviet submarines are spoted near Sidney, Seattle, Scotland, and New Foundland.
November 29. Battle in the skies over Europe.
November 29. East Coast of England. Anti-air sistems are targeting Soviet airplanes.
November 29. Nord Pacific. Soviet Air Forces strike the US Pacific Fleet.
November 30. Emergency meeting of US leadership in Colorado Mountains secret military base. NATO has lost half of its fleet and suffers military defeat for the first 24 hours in Central Europe. The US command gives ultimatum to the Soviet Union to stop the offensive or else NATO will strike with nuclear weapons.
US intercontinental balistic missiles are ready to launch.
December 1. The soviet leadership is ready to use nuclear weapons only as respond to enemy nuclear attack. All radar systems are in fully operational.
December 1 - Doomsday. The president of the United States is under great pressure. The most of the US generals voted for preemptive nuclear strike, hopping that the USSR will loose most of its nuclear capacity and that USA will survive the enemy respond. Ronald Reagan is making his final address to the nation. His final words are: "I hope that the soviets will stop their aggression or we will be forced to take the necessary actions. God saves us all..."
December 1 - 18:00. The soviet offensive in Europe continues by plan. The soviet command believes that the US nuclear threat is bluff.
December 1 - 18:30. The US President is giving the order to preemptive nuclear strike.
December 1 - 18:45. The Soviet government is surprised, they have only 10 minutes to strike back with maximum power. Marshal Ogorkov is giving the final order.
December 1 - 19:00. Nuclear Holocаust.
10 years latter. Only 10% of the population survived the war. The future of the human race is uncertain...
