Nestled at a natural gathering point for farmers, produce, trade and those simply seeking journeys respite; lies the town of Ankor.

Long a community hub, with a healthy hub-bub and exchange for news&tales, culture&favor; and indeed, debts&deeds.

Truly a place where one could hear tell of happening across 3 cities within a single tavern.

Yet for many a generation, though ever populated through the ebb and flow of passersby, the town beyond having a surplus of accommodation, did not see particular growth for itself.

It remained a simpler place, a basic folk, with townspeople ways, content in their pursuit of local craft, trade, and fare.

A main attraction to the town for many years, indeed a time when it would seem all passersby did stop passing, and simply 'dwellby', was a festival once known as firesong, thought to originate from the sung woods, where the elves continue to refer to the event as lóm'narlirë, roughly translated as 'Long dusk song of fire'.

The festival grew over the years as word of mouth spread of a cultural melting pot, a time to radically express oneself free from the confines of the cities. It became the event that the town was known for, with many houses staying empty yearlong simply to provide roof overhead for the near weeklong festival.

The ever-growing event and the quandary of how to press the attendees within the confines of the town for a long while was the largest driver of change in the otherwise sleepy town. That is until a rich vein of coal was discovered in nearby foothills, disrupting trade from Caldor, providing a new point of supply for Saelesstor, and ushering in a small coal boom in the town. In a short time, the town remodeled itself; chimneys spewing smoke, as jobs such as firing bricks, clay and smelting took off.

And while the now called 'night of the burn' does indeed continue, often attendees ruefully exchange over how the town has changed, lost its innocence in a way, lost something certainly...
