The old beacon tower from the Dutch era is said to be the only three in the world. This lighthouse, built by the Dutch in 1875 when the Dutch colonized the Land of Serambi Mekkah, Aceh, is located in the Meulingge forest that facing to the Indian Ocean. its sturdiness and strength remain plenary which can be seen nowadays.

The Lighthouse has 85 meters in height with 1 meter the thickness of the wall.
Another interesting thing about this lighthouse is the process of the building mentioned in a book about Aceh war in Onze Vestiging in Atjeh, written by Major General G.F.W Borel. Based on the information in that book hundreds of people were transported from Ambon, east Indonesia to build this beacon tower. Besides, not only ambon people were forced to work but also hundreds of local residents were forced too to be involved in its construction.

the Lighthouse adopted the name of the king who ruled Luxembourg (1817-1890), namely Willem Alexander Paul Frederik Lodewijk. The tower is located within a 20-hectare complex. In the past, this settlement was filled with Dutch officers. But nowadays it becomes a historical place to visit and such a beautiful landscape will be offered to us.
