Chokehold: I was a 5th Grade Pro Wrestler - Chapter 3 - The Battle Royal

in #wrestling7 years ago (edited)

It all started with Saturday Night’s Main event: the Body Slam Challenge. Hugo Humongous, the villain (also called a heel) put up a bounty of 50,000 to anyone that could body slam him in the middle of the ring. Guy after guy came out from the back, but no one could.

Well, no one until the American Super Soldier. He entered the ring to a roaring ovation, slammed the monster, and collected the briefcase of money. He even got a kiss from the amazingly cute ring announcer.

“Wow, that’s the life.” Gavin thought as he turned off the television and got ready for bed.

The next morning the Body Slam Challenge was being discussed all over school. Everyone in his class watched wrestling and most of them believed it was real. It didn’t take long for someone to suggest recreating the event at recess.

Tony Peters or King Tony the Giant was playing the role of the immoveable object. Everyone took turns trying to slam him, but just like the television show before, nobody could. It was not until Freddy Thompson showed up that the tide was turned.

Freddy Thompson was a bit of a genetic freak. At an age when most boys are just happy to be able to lift the bar on a weight bench, Freddy was putting actual plates on each side. He could even lift it over his head. King Tony stood no chance.

Freddie lifted him up and tossed him with ease. The children all cheered and Gavin had an amazing idea.

“Let’s have a Battle Royal,” He said. “The winner will be the first ever champion.”

The children unanimously agreed and boundary lines were drawn on the ground. Everyone would start inside the square. Once you were thrown outside it you were eliminated.

15 boys and one girl entered the fray. One by one they were picked off by the ruthless aggression of the nearly invincible King Tony. Not even the might of Freddy Thompson could withstand his assault.

King Tony was the first Heritage Wrestling Federation champion.

His reign would be short lived. Moments after he was crowned champion he placed an open challenge for anyone at any time.

Of course, Freddy took him up on that. 30 seconds and one body slam later Freddy Thompson was the second ever HWF champion. Then football season started.
