Does a picture really replace a Thousand words now

in #writer8 years ago

Is the information highway swiming in shallow pools of limited one liners as small screens dominate the planet?

This is really a writers cry for help ........HELP !!

How many words can one read on a phone accessing the internet?
How many turn off after a sentence?
Twitter immortalized the seven second sound byte mentality - now anything longer than that is b-o-o-r-i-n-g
Whats longer than a sentence?  Answer - A paragraph
Paragraphs are less boring and more profound apparently
How does one write engaging but profound information that can be - nay will WANT to be read on a tiny screen
Can I call someone with a tiny screen a hobbit - do hobbits read or just look at pictures ?
Have we reached the time where a picture really does replace a thousand words?
The world has become inhabited by hobbits
Will tiny screens one day become big enough they will have to sit on a desk - oh wait .....

I'm not sure I understand where hobbits come in to this... I'm a hobbit and I read books. I feel like I should be taking offense, but this is only the internet. Also, a picture has taken the place of a thousand words a long time ago.

just me rambling it was the smallest fictional creature that came to mind no offence - yes the picture seems to have replaced a 1000 words - so was wondering where does that leave me as a writer in todays fast past small screened world - just trying to find my feet after a long and i mean l-o-n-g writers block :-(

Believe me, I understand. Putting thoughts into text that doesn't sound like an accident (or mistake) is something I haven't been able to get comfortable in. I hear from people who are surprised when they read certain things that I write, but I don't think I ever feel like I'm satisfied with it. I don't really take offense, I just like calling myself a hobbit. :-)

Hi! This post has a Flesch-Kincaid grade level of 7.8 and reading ease of 78%. This puts the writing level on par with Tom Clancy and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
