TIPS | A Poor Man’s Macro Photography!

Here are some tips on how to get macro shots while on a budget! Assuming that you have a smartphone with a good quality camera. I think nowadays, smartphones have good quality cameras. I even used my Cheap Xiaomi Redmi 4x for this and got quite decent shots! But mostly, I use my iPhone 5s.

But if you use your normal phone camera to take closeup shots, it won’t focus properly and the images won’t look great. Then, I bought a cheap macro lens clip from a known cheap china-made products store. CDR KING! I got it for P100 pesos or $2.00 USD!

Thinking the images won’t look good, I tried it and I was impressed! It wasn’t that bad. Although real macro lens would give much better quality, but I am still happy with it.

There are lots of clip lens around and some of them are better than the other. Some are more expensive and some are just ok.

Things You Need:
  • Smartphone (A good quality camera, the better).
  • Lens Clip.
Software:
  • Built-in Camera App
  • Camera+ (optional)
Steps:
  • Insert the Lens Clip to the phone. Make sure that the macro lens covers the whole smartphone camera.
  • Fire Up your camera app.
  • Find a good subject (check out the local garden. You might see amazing insects hanging out).
  • To be able to get focus, you must go closer to the subject until the subject is very clear in your display.
  • Make sure not to move or you will lose focus. Don’t breathe if its necessary until you get the shot. lol

oh wow thats pretty cool :)
I've been using a cheap canon zoom lens ($50) with a $2 10x macro attachment. works a charm, but this looks lice and simple :) I like it! YOu has my vote!

I also have a 10x macro attachment for my Lens. But I perfer this one because you can take it wherever you want without the bulky dslr. But yeah, you have to sacrifice some good image quaity.

Awesome upvote? Boy
