"Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted." - John Lennon
The FabFour
Over the past several years, I have had the privilege of performing with Canada’s ultimate tribute to the Beatles. In my experience, it is clear that the love for the music of The FabFour is stronger than ever - even with younger audiences.

In His Own Write
But what about the music of John Lennon’s solo career? Although, perhaps not not as universally well known, the catalogue of Lennon songs - post-Beatles - is still exemplary.
"I don’t believe in Beatles" - John Lennon
- “Ya, but what about my REWARD?” you may be asking. Well, hang on mate!
Imagine
You may have also read how John Lennon’s most beloved songs, "Imagine" has been in the news recently. Indeed, official songwriting credits have been split evenly between John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
In fact, John Lennon himself believed credit to his wife and artistic collaborator was long overdue: "Actually, that should be credited as a Lennon-Ono song because a lot of the lyric and the concept came from Yoko. But those days I was a bit more selfish, bit more macho, and I sort of omitted to mention her contribution."
You can hear all about it here: https://www.npr.org/2017/06/17/533368546/yoko-ono-joins-john-lennon-with-credit-line-for-writing-imagine
John and Yoko
- “Yoko - Oh No! What about my REWARD?” you rightfully may ask. Well, here’s your opportunity to win…

May I pick "yellow submarine". Since a kid I was found that song fun and entertaining. Not sure if John wrote it or Paul or someone else, but definitely catchy tone. Thanks.
I am 62 years old, I basically grew up with the Beatles. Then I have to admit that I appreciate Beatles much more now than then. Yes, John Lennon was before his time, not only as Prophet peace broker, he also understood the worldly conspiracy.
Give Peace a Chance is my entry. That link is the video on YouTube. When this song played on the radio in Sweden here it was from Radio Luxembourg out of Holland on Am radio. It reminds me of the Vietnam War days and how he was a voice of reason for Peace!
Great choice!
Here is a cool webpage about the first of the Beatles on Radio Luxembourg. Enjoy!
So fun that you know all this! You live in Canada and I in Sweden
I really like the Beatles as a group the best with their clear lyrics and melodious musical sound.
Lennon was a great songwriter and ‘Imagine’ is such a recognized song of his.
He and McCarty had songwriting magic together. ‘In My Life’ was one Lennon wrote about childhood memories before the Beatles but they sang a great version with beautiful soft music I liked.
Thanks for the reply. You are right in that "In My Life" is such a classic - so moving.
"There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed"
If you get a chance, you might like "Beautiful Boy" written by John for his son Sean and see what you think.
Definitely beautiful song but a little sad for me. I like ‘whatever gets you through the night.’
My all time favourite is ‘When I’m Sixty-Four.” I sang that one night at a karaoke “ Will you still feed me, will you still need me...when I’m sixty- four.”
Now you got me singing their songs. 🎼🤐
I got to be honest here, I can't even tell you a song to be able to participate lol However, I did want to tell you that this is a great post. Even without really knowing much about John, I still read it to the end. Good luck to all of those who participate in this contest!
Thanks for the response and kind thoughts!
If you got a chance, maybe take a listen to "Instant Karma" and see what you think.
Absolutely! Thank you for sharing. I checked it out, definitely a man who is well worth continuing on his memory. I looked at the comments on the video when I was done and seen that someone said he was killed by being shot in the street. Is that true and do you know why someone shot him?
great idea for a contest, I am not enough of a John Lennon to play, although I do enjoy his music if it were to be played. =)
Appreciate the comment!
Try playing this song and see if you like it: "Woman"
Nice one, I had never heard that before, I liked the images, I had forgot he had been shot to be honest until I saw the article flash up. Thanks for sharing it with me, it's clear he loved her.
Absolutely. Glad you enjoyed it.
Btw, I just read your latest post - https://steemit.com/writing/@insideoutlet/my-offer-to-you-two-months-a-steemian - great job!
Thanks for taking the time to read it. :-)
great i like it. please upvote and comment my profile.
Thanks. Will check it out.
In the interim, maybe take a listen to "Whatever Gets You Through the Night" and see what you think.
I'm afraid besides "Imagine"(which is one of my all time favourites) I just don't know much of John's solo work.
But "Because" which he wrote with Paul, is for sure, one of my top 5 (so difficult to choose between Beatles songs! hehe). I love it for it's depth and simplicity...
This is great! You used what you've learned well, yoko-oh no where's my reward? HA! Good use of imagery, artistically formatted, all elements are present. The only critiques I have are, the title, tell me more about the reward. Steemit offers us ridiculously long titles, use them. Your preview is what gets people in the door. Also, a bigger offer. If you could come up with something just a little bigger, I think you'd have more takers, but, about a third of your viewers are commenting, so not bad!
