Harlynn

By Jjay

The scent of brimstone and charred flesh drenched the very air of ruins of the tiny village Harlynn found herself wondering through. Pulling her cloak tighter around herself she lifted the silk scarf around her neck to cover her mouth. Dark purple eyes danced over the crumbling buildings as she tried to figure where all the humans had run off to. As it was it seemed they were gone and not coming back which was unfortunate for her as she was looking to make a meal out of at least one of them.

With so many things having been burnt down to the ground she assumed she would not be getting the meal she was hoping for. A heavy sigh escaped her lips as she found herself quickly on the outskirts of the village and still no sign of a human. Then the scent of someone heading her way drifted towards her. The sweat of the horse as it was pushed far harder than it should have been and the scent of the human mingled with it as well.

Moving to the side of the dirt road she decided it would be best to simply wait for the prey to come to her. After all there was only one road into the devastated village. The hooves pounded the packed dirt of the worn path of the road. They slowed to a stop a few feet before her.

The sounds of the heavy breathing of the beast and rider made the female’s mouth water as she took as step as if to get out of his way. The bridle and bit jingled as the horse shook itself slightly, “You!” The deep voice of the rider called out to her, “Do you know what happened?”

Her purple eyes danced over to him as she shook her head, “Not in the least, dear lord, but take a woman’s word when she advices you give your horse a rest.”

It was easy to tell that her eyes threw him off his game after all not many beings had eyes like amethysts and all of them immortal. She happened to be a rare type of fae that feasted on the deep lustful emotions of humans. Succubus was a name she got called often but she wasn’t bound by the same rules as them.

His nervousness quickly became clear as he pulled back on his horse’s reins, “What do you want?” He asked softly. She had heard that sound several times before. He was ensnared in what was commonly called enchantment. Harlynn’s enchantment drew her prey in and made them desire her deeply on many different levels. It affected each person a bit differently.

“Just for you to dismount and assist me,” She told him softly, “Come there is no one around this place but me and you.”

Slowly the male moved to dismount. As he did she took him in a bit more. He was young but clearly not in human years. A bit of reddish gold beard framed a strong jaw and chin. His eyes were an enriching green. Long dark brown hair was pulled back to trail down his strong back that was covered by the tanned leather vest and dark grey long sleeved shirt under it. His shirt was tucked into his black breeches that were tucked into his black boots. Judging by his clothing he was likely a smith. Perhaps he had been traveling and heard of the disaster to strike the village and came hurrying back as quickly as possible. If it was true, there was nothing left here for him.

Harlynn pushed her hood from her head and tugged her scarf down, “Much better,” She smiled, “Come surely there is a creek nearby where a woman can bath and you can fix a fire to keep us warm.”

She watched as a blush worked over the human’s cheeks, “That’ isn’t proper but yes there is a creek just this way,” He pointed off to the left of the road they were on. There was a well worn footpath. The Fae motioned for the male to lead the way after all she didn’t know if her had anything on him that would hurt her and when her gaze didn’t make contact with his own she risked losing the enchantment she had cast on him.

As she followed him she let her mind wander over what might have happened to the village as she had earlier. She didn’t get far as the sound of water trickling over rocks drew her gaze to the good sized creek before her. She could easily jump it’s girth but a human would have a hellish time doing so. Fae weren’t too dissimilar to the animals of nature they often protected without thought. Water clear as glass drifted over rocks of varying colors of red, blue, and orange. Bowing branches of the weeping willows dipped and caressed the surface of the babbling creek.

Movement of the male unsaddling and removing the bridle from his steed made her glance over at him. The bay tossed his head as he danced away from him happy to have his head free to do as he wished his trotted off a ways and walked into the water to get a drink.

The human turned to look at her then. He stared at her as if he hadn’t seen her before. Not that she could really believe he had ever seen anyone quite like her as Fae tended to stay as far away from humans as possible. Still there were those like herself that needed humans to feed and survive on. She wasn’t the most exotic of her kind but she wasn’t one to be mistaken for human either. Her long emerald green hair and vibrant purple eyes saw to that. Her overall body structure was lithe and frail looking but looks were never a thing for someone to go off of alone. They tended to tell lies. Easily she could snap his neck and any bone in his body without much thought.

Lost in comparing herself to the human before her she hadn’t noticed him moving to cup her cheek and lift her face up so his lips to dance over her own, “I’m sorry…” She heard him say so softly, “I don’t know why but I just can’t help myself but want you in ways that a man shouldn’t want a woman he just met.”

A chuckle graced her lips, “That emotion that you are feeling is lust. It is normal and you will feel it around many women till you find the one that your heart belongs to,” She explained softly as she draws him in closer to herself. Feasting on emotions was always a heady experience. It filled one’s body and built much like every sexual experience that humans had. But unlike them her kind had no need to actually perform the act to pull the emotions to the forward. She would take what she wanted and leave him.

His body sagged against her own as she pushed him into sleep before lowering him to the ground. He was peaceful as he slept. A smile crossed her lips as she made a fire and set him up with his saddle under his head and her cloak draped over his form. Without a glance back she wandered off into the woods till the next time she had need to feast again.
