Urban agriculture is a concept that continues to grow, large cities have already begun to develop this practice. But what is it really about? and what effects does this practice have? Urban agriculture can be defined as the cultivation of plants and the raising of animals in urban environments (cities).

The most striking characteristic of urban agriculture, which distinguishes it from rural agriculture, is that it is integrated into the urban economic and ecological system: urban agriculture is integrated and interacts with the urban ecosystem. One of the most fascinating features of urban agriculture is that we can use small patios, terraces, balconies, roofs or abandoned structures and we can transform them into an ecological ecosystem.

Urban agriculture has several positive factors towards the environment, such as improving the quality of the air in the place where it is being carried out, carbon emissions are reduced, since food travels hundreds of miles to reach our tables and by cultivating in urban areas we can reduce the impact of contamination, it contributes to food security by increasing availability and affordability of food, etc.

The implementation of urban agriculture helps build resilient communities, we understand by resilient communities those who have their means of life and who are able to face, for example, the effects of change climate change, natural disasters, and if they are severely affected, can be recovered in a timely manner and reactivated economically without falling into poverty. Let's take the step towards a more sustainable and efficient society through this practice!

Your approach is very interesting. Besides helping to reduce costs and improve the environment, I do see other benefits of urban agriculture. Think of developing countries where city areas are so packed that there's just small room for people to live. Well, you can take advantage of space by growing part of your food and while doing so, you could unite a community enjoying life around a common activity...

Thanks for taking time to read and comment.

I literally had less knowledge about urban agriculture. that was really interesting I would definitely do more research and learn about the subject.

i love this, it allows everyone to make their own food. But how will farmers....? hmm thoughts in my head
