I stumbled on a quote some time ago by one of the greatest artists that ever lived and it goes:

"Good artists copy; Great artists steal"
      -Pablo Picasso

I was stunned to see this and I resolved to research mode to look into Pablo's personality.

Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright who was regarded as one of the most influential and greatest of the 20th century. At this point, I knew he was no failure going around talking trash.
More-Pablo-Picasso

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of the popular social network Facebook is believed to have stolen the idea for Facebook from the Winklevoss brothers who hired him to build a social network called "Harvard connection" which was to be a better way to connect with fellow students at Harvard and other universities. Probably Mark had a bigger picture of not just connecting students but connecting the whole world, which is gradually becoming a reality.

What does this mean?

We are all told that stealing is bad, but not all stealing is bad. Sometimes stealing can be good. I could argue that everything created today is inspired by something in the past.

I know at this point you know I'm not talking about stealing tangible and other people's belongings.

What I mean is that you can take characteristics from others that you admire, break down their behaviors to see how you could learn from how they carry themselves or to simply steal knowledge from more experienced people, not intellectual property.

The goal of good creative stealing is not to plagiarise what you find interesting or inspiring but to steal the thinking behind it which you can then repurpose in your own style.

If you steal money, it will last until you spend it all and you might even get caught.
If you steal things, you will possess them until they are used up.
If you steal fame, one day it will fade.
If you steal power, very soon someone else will steal it from you.

Knowledge is something that cannot be lost, expropriated or spent. Your knowledge is the most precious asset you can ever have. Therefore, learn to steal the most valuable knowledge and become a knowledge theft ninja to accelerate your personal growth and become better than you ever thought possible.

The "Steal" philosophy is a general rule for mastery and to reduce time re-inventing the wheel and high achievers use it always. So go ahead and steal your next billion dollar idea or whatever would make you a better person.
