The indian tradition or concept of dowry is quite fascinating.
Over here in Nigeria its the reverse case. And lol a friend of mine stopped his wedding and refused to marry his proposed wife due to this..
It so sad how tradition has become that they make it all like business contract rather than of mutual benefit

The groom does the wedding rites and pays the dowry of the girl to the brides family.
In some places its cheap and in some others its like a contract deals. Most especially of the eastern part of the country like Imo State . super expensive.

Its usually funny when watching some indian movies on Zeeworld(My girlfriends favourite channel) seeing the reverse been done. Sometimes i tease her with it.
However, its sad to see the negative effects caused to the native females of the land.. Never had a full insight of this.
