Steamit made me confront the man in the glass

Like many new users, I had no idea Steamit existed until a day or two ago--I stumbled upon it completely by accident and after doing some research I was amazed. Over the past few years I have found myself entering a rut...going through the motions if you will. Social media (Facebook, Reddit) have gotten monotonous and repetitive and my daily grind hasn't been helping much either. I found myself trapped in a mold of a life that was boring me, and breaking the habits keeping me in this mold were easier said than done. As I've moved from student to employee, I think I've formed an identity that I haven't allowed myself to escape from. Steamit showed me that this identity was all in my head and I could decide to change it.

After I clicked the fresh blue hyperlink I found a site where people were having interesting discussions and living their lives as they saw fit--and they were being rewarded for it with social connections and some cash as well! As silly as it may sound, this shocked me right out of my depression. I'm seriously inspired by everyone's great writing, shared experiences, art, and ideas. I feel excited about life again--and I could not be more grateful!

I may not have a clear direction in life right now, but I've realized that I can start mapping it out.
