A reflection on our future and our environment

One of the challenges of our century conserns the protection of our environment. We hear this problem more and more, without being touched by it. Indeed, when we wake up in the morning, we continue to eat our cereals, drink our coffee and continue our daily routine. Now the world goes bad and it suffers, but we continue in our routines without thinking about the consequences for future generations, for our children.

One of the problems we often hear about is related to the release of greenhouse gases. We talk about it because our cars or our helicopter, for the richest, consume it. We need to change our habits and propose other solutions that can overcome this problem. Indeed, the transportation is not the only one. Energy, food, water… are also fields where there are problems. One of the most well-known problems is related to creation of meat. In fact, to produce meat, we need water and wheat. However, if we focus on creating wheat, we get more food than if we create meat. I’m not saying that we have to become vegan, I’m not and I do not want to become one. Simply, I suggest that we should perhaps reduce our consumption of meat. This problem is not related only to the environment. Indeed, in a world where more and more peolple are present, we must be able to feed them. In fact, there are still people who are hungry in the world, even if we are not necessarily aware of it in our environment which is warm and pleasant. We tried to be copassionnate to those in need, and we try to understand their pain, but we never experienced it. We never felt constant hunger like them. And this is the reason why, I think, we do not act. It’s not in our priority.

For the majority of people, we want to have a job and make money so that we can enjoy life. And I understand them. But having the new clothes in fashion, the new phone that just came out when we do not need it, is not necessary. We just want this to boast to others. We want to flatter our ego. In an increasingly wolrd, we do not want to share moments anymore, we try to show others that we have the best life possible. But we know that for some people it’s just a facade.
Technology has allowed us to get closer, to be in contact with our loved one, but in the end we move away from them. Today, children no longuer play hopscotch. They play on their phone. They are no longuer listening to their environment around them. Finally, if we are not listening to our environment, we can not be aware of the issus. And so, we can not solve them.

To conclude this text, although it is a pessimistic view, I am rather optimistic for the future. We can all contribute to build solutions. Even if they are not perfect, we create paths that everyone can borrow and explore. Thus, other people can resume our work, and who knows, find a solution. As for me, I let you think about this thinking, I have a path to explore and a road to build.
