Book Review | Tribe of Mentors by Timothy Ferriss
Beautifully put, this book will feel like a warm hug you didn't know you needed; whether you are a writer, musician, graphic designer, engineer, actor or everything combined.
Timothy Ferriss did a fantastic job by releasing this book; not to mention, the guy really knows how to write. By asking the right questions to the right people, I believe he conveyed even more than he intended because the book contains within its pages the right amount of wisdom the average Joe needs in his life to kick it in the ass.
The mentors are a list of personalities who the author has admired throughout his life, like actor Terry Crews, tennis player Maria Sharapova, skateboarder Tony Hawk, musician Tim Mcgraw, talk show host Larry King, among others.
Some answers to the questions like “a favorite failure of yours” will surprise you, especially if they come from a person you admire. I suggest you make notes while you read it; you’ll thank me later on because some of the quotes are worth keeping near.
In addition, another aspect worth highlighting is the fact that most of these successful people, and I really mean most of them, meditate, keep a journal and walk on a regular basis. In such a diverse group of people, it is almost surprising to find the similarities.
If I had to point out something I didn’t entirely like was the fact that some of the interviews didn’t add up anything to the book; some answers were terribly similar, and it tended to be a bit redundant if you read it in a short lapse of time.
Nonetheless, I do recommend this book and I recommend storing it by your bed, just to give it a quick skim right before bedtime, or after opening your eyes to a brand new day.
