Traditionally I have made predictions a few months in advance, but this year I would like to make a few more now it is only a couple of days from the actual rumble.

There are a few rumours that I have deliberately avoided (Kenny Omega, Roman Reigns, AJ Lee, EC3, etc…) because they seemed to obvious to write.

Sami Zayn

Sami has been out fixing both his rotator cuffs, however a simple search on Wikipedia shows that he isn’t listed as ‘injured’ any more. Could he ruturn as a face in the rumble? I’d love to see it…

(Luke) Harper

I was going to say Bray Wyatt as well, but he was in my original list. Brodie Lee – as he was known on the indy scene – can definitely wrestle. Maybe it is time for a new singles push, and I can’t think of a better way to do it than a fresh start at the rumble.

Kevin Owens

Another wrestler who mysteriously is not listed as ‘injured’ anymore on Wikipedia. The WWE are not stupid, and have probably done this to tease a return to keep people guessing. On the other hand, a Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn 1 and 2 would get everyone cheering the rumble before it has even begun. WWE loves talking points, and they haven’t advertised the 1 and 2 spots yet. I smell a surprise, it’s just what surprise are we going to get…?

Drake Maverick

Rockstar Spud can wrestle, as he has proved on TNA. He is more of an authority figure in the WWE though and would most likely be used as a gimmick entrance to make a bigger wrestler look really strong (Not so subtle CM Punk reference there…). But the fact is because he can wrestle, he can be easily cleared to compete.

Wade Barrett

Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-BOOOOOM! If you want to see Barrett in the rumble, THEN I’M AFRAID I’VE GOT SOME BAD NEWS!!!!!!

I’ll tell you what though; I don’t know what he is up to nowadays, and the WWE have promised a shake up recently. This would be a right spanner in the works that no one saw coming, and I for one would love it…

WOMENS RUMBLE:

Last year there was a women’s rumble as well (which kind of destroyed by 2018 Becky Lynch prediction when I thought there was only one rumble…), and the women’s rumble is far harder to predict because (a) A lot of the legends appeared in the first rumble, and (b) there are simply less female wrestlers than male. Of course, I still have a few ideas on who they could surprise us with:

The Bellas

OK, not the most difficult guess. In fact, it is almost certain that these two women will be in the rumble. I think they are still contracted though, and could offer a heel duo dumping out some more likeable wrestlers before a fan favourite <fake cough...Alexa Bliss...another fake cough...Ember Moon...cough and splutter...> gets rid of one of them and makes it more interesting…

Kaitlyn

Yep, she’s back after retiring a few years ago. I forgot to mention her in my previous post, but she is a former champion and could add a whole new dynamic to the roster. Whether it is a one night thing or a more long term contract, it would be great to see her back in a WWE ring provided she can still hang with the best.

Eve Torres

Another legend that surprisingly didn’t come back for the first rumble. But at the same time, you need great surprises for the next rumble. Come on Eve, give us another moonsault. Anything Apollo Crews can do, you can do better, right…?

In fact, maybe Victoria should be on this list as well. A very underrated performer. What do you think…?

Shayna Baszler

Shayna is a legitimate bad ass, and I love seeing bad asses do what they do best, and that’s fight. She’s taken to professional wrestling like a duck to water, and a call up to the main roster is LONG overdue.

I don’t see Bianca Belair losing her winning streak to Baszler because that would make no sense in terms of booking. Unless they want Baszler there for another year as the top dog in NXT, then I would predict a changing of the guard, which leaves Baszler to come into the rumble the next day after Takeover.

Melina

I heard Melina wasn’t well liked backstage, but that’s all they are; rumours. I wasn’t there, so I can’t possibly know whether she was or not. What I can say though is that she excelled in the ring as a performer and a wrestler when she was there, so a one time deal to get the crowd going in the rumble could suit both parties. And if it goes well, who knows…?
