MY YOGA JOURNEY UPDATE #1

So... four days ago I started a yoga challenge. I tried to finish this same challenge before but I always failed. But since I started noticing my back pains coming back, I need to take care of my body again.

Why yoga? I feel like I'm taking care of my body, I can feel myself getting stronger both mentally and physically and I love the positive energy.

Three years ago I finished two of the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guides and although I really enjoyed doing these, I was too focused on the physical part. I wanted to lose weight so desperately! It was all I was thinking of, every... day... Slimming down by exercising more and eating less. With yoga, I don't have that at all. I feel like it's more about self-love and excepting your body.

The challenge I'm doing on Youtube is called: "30 Days of Yoga" from Yoga With Adriene. Every day she focusses on a new aspect or style of yoga. She encourages you to not be a "yoga robot", as she calls it, and to do what feels good. Each practice is super casual and Adriene made me feel super comfortable during my time on the mat so far. She made me realise that yoga is not about doing everything perfectly and that it's okay if I fall down while finding my balance.

Day 1

On day one I decided to move my mat outside and do my yoga practice there, for the first time ever. Getting some vitamin D while doing my yoga poses felt amazing. After this practice, I felt energized and ready to start the day! You will find me on my computer a lot because I'm studying graphic design, so going outside is super important for me. I kind of have to force myself every day 😉

Day 2

I did my practice in my room before I went to sleep but since my boyfriend was also in the room it felt a little bit crowded. I don't know how to explain this feeling but I just didn't take up as much space as usual. Usually, I will make my poses very big and I will breathe in-and-out very loud.

Day 3

On day 3 I practised in my room again. I don't have anything special to tell you about yesterday, to be honest. I was a bit stressed out that day because I had a lot of tasks on my plate and although it was a bit of a struggle to come to the mat that day; it felt really good afterwards.

Day 4

Today I took my mat outside again. Day 4 was all about stretching and strengthening your back. Great news, since my back was hurting a lot from the day before. The sun was shining on my face and I felt super relaxed, energised and happy after this practice. READY TO TAKE ON THE DAY!!!
