In addition Yoga could help with psychological suffering, the greatest suffering for some people is of a psychological nature: anxiety, fear, depression and other emotional states of disharmony that can deprive those who suffer this from the joy of living.
To practice regular asanas it becomes a necessity to also combine the adherence to yama and niyama (on the eightfold yoga path of Patanjali the first steps are called Yama and Niyama, and both mean regulation), just as the body needs healthy food to feed itself in the same way the mind needs pure and virtuous feelings and emotions. A mind inhabited by thoughts of violence, falsehood, excess or morbid attachment will never find peace.
The asanas are of great help in regulating also the ethical conduct of the individual, since with regular practice a purified body will find it difficult to harbor unhealthy thoughts and emotions.
Feelings such as anger, greed, avarice, selfishness are deeply rooted in the human soul and the individual also demands a voluntary effort to tear it away with the practice of ethical principles.
Therefore, we can conclude that yoga does nothing more than help the body and mind to purify themselves by restoring a balance that is constantly threatened in modern day-to-day life.
