2nd branch - Niyama
What are they?
The Niyama are the behaviors / attitudes that the practitioner is obliged to follow and are directed exclusively to himself.
How many?
The Niyama are also 5:
• Shaucha (purity)
• Santosha (joy)
• Tapas (austerity)
• Svadhyaya (study of simism and the scriptures)
• Ishvara Pranidhana (abandonment to the supreme entity)
Why are they important?
Through the practice of niyama the practitioner develops self-discipline and rigor, essential requirements if you want to be successful in practice
