Al-Hasan al-Bashri, may God have mercy on him, said,

"Man consists of three groups: believers, infidels, and hypocrites.

Believers, Allah subhanahu wata'ala treats them according to their obedience.

Infidels, Allah subhanahu wata'ala has humiliated them as you can see.

As for the hypocrites, they are here, with us in our homes, streets, and markets. We seek refuge in Allah subhanahu wata'ala. By Allah, they do not know their Lord. Count their bad deeds as a form of disobedience to Allah subhanahu wata'ala.

Indeed, no believer enters the morning except in a state of anxiety, despite having done good. It is not appropriate for him otherwise.

He entered the afternoon in a state of worry, even though he had done good.

Because, he is between two worries:

• Past sins; he does not know what Allah subhanahu wata'ala will do about his sin (whether it will be forgiven or it will still be punished, -ed.).

• Remaining death (in his life); he does not know what destruction will befall him in the future."
