ZAPPL Idea Contest Entry - Multi-Function Video Platform

in #zappl8 years ago (edited)

Twitter has Periscope. You can livestream on FB, IG, Snap. None of them have the advantage of a wallet built in to the platform. Steemit & the Steem blockchain give us that power to really monetize video.

One of the things that make blockchain platforms great is the built in wallet feature. The features built around the wallet will expand on any Steem platform as time goes on. The video functionality is not yet there on Steemit so we continue to embed YouTube and Vid.me. That is fine and will change as we plat catchup to mainstream social media. However, only providing the ability to share video or livestream to your page is not enough. In order for businesses to really use the platform easily, we really need the ability to be able to monetize the video:

1. Functionality that will only allow the user to view video or livestream content based on editable criteria met: Did you upvote the post, did you re-steem the post, did you comment on the post, did you tip the creator of the post.

2. Functionality that will let users sell live-stream or video content to individuals or groups. So, the video feed will be locked except to individuals who have paid. This can be used for one-on-one or group consultation, classes, etc. Right now we have to use Google Hangouts, Skype or other mainstream social media video services, even though our customer may have paid us with Steem or SBD.

I believe a really deep video-payment service will help the platform grow. There are so many who use video to do remote consultation, classes, etc. I think the best way to stand apart from any of the mainstream platforms is to use the wallet system to help people monetize easily and all in one place. Mainstream platforms cannot do this in a way that any Steem platform can with our built in monetary and wallet system. They are trying with credit cards, and it can never be as efficient and instant or secure as what Steem can build.

I hope this seems like a great idea to everyone. I am really excited about ZAPPL. I think this will translate much better to the mainstream user than the actual blogging platforms Steemit currently has. I know from beedback from most of my friends and family, that they would rather be on a platform more like FB, Twitter, Snap or IG, than an actual full blogging platform. Build it and they will come.

Thank you for your submission.

A great idea! they might need some more money to pull this one off though, it requires alot of support and servers.

Thanks. Yes it would require quite a bit to pull it off :)

Great post @framelalife I couldn't agree more on your assessment!

Thanks :) can't wait to see a more Twitter like app for Steem... i think the platform will drive adoption quicker than a blogging-esque platform like steemit.com. What will be interesting is how content will be gauged because it may be quite a bit more simple than a full on blog post. But simple posts on FB, Twitter, IG and Snap do go viral and have value just as much as a very well written post on steemit.com. We've saw quite a few simple things do big numbers on Steemit.

so is this like a call for recruitment? seems interesting though. but it does not need anything much. just to b able to use the current interface with the ability to upload most video file types!.
the idea of steemit not being facebook or like the others is the kind of appeal I think makes steemit what it is
thank you for your words!

Well I think as long as you can record and live stream straight from inside the app like most social media apps nowdays, that the extra features are more based on the wallet system.

If I post a video post or live stream and before the video or live stream is visible, you must upvote or re-steem to view it, then the post should do well. Of course the onus is still on the user to bait them to upvote or re-steem before viewing. Either the description text, image, or your actual reputation for putting out good content will impact the viewer to trust and upvote and share beforehand, or they won't and they may skip over the content. I also think that you could have either/or for posts. Either you must share and re-steem the post to view, or you may tip the content creator a set amount of steem or SBD to view. It gives the viewer options.

I also think if anyone has wanted to do one on one consultation or teach a class, you can do it on steemit now. I could create a post, put a google hangouts link in the post and then track who has paid or met criteria like upvoting. I could also do a password for those who have met criteria or paid to be sure. But wouldn't it be nice to have the software do all that from steemit or zappl? That way if I want to do a jiu jitsu seminar live streamed and only those who pay can view it, it's simple, easy, and useful.

  1. Functionality that will only allow the user to view video or livestream content based on editable criteria met: Did you upvote the post, did you re-steem the post, did you comment on the post, did you tip the creator of the post.

I don't get it? I think I'm reading it wrong, it seems like you would have to upvote or comment or something before you can view the video at all?
