ZenTasktic Update: Integration With Steemit For Posting Tasks On the Blockchain

in #zentasktic8 years ago

I'm very excited today: the first official, public post from within ZenTasktic, the app, is live on the blockchain. You can see a screenshot below.

What's more important, though, it's the proof. If you explore the metadata of the post on steemdb, you will see this tiny field, called app, which has the value "zentasktic". That's basically the proof that it's been posted from somewhere else, not the official Steemit blog.

At the moment, this is a very experimental feature. It wasn't yet pushed to the public alpha version, so if you want to play with it, you're gonna have to wait. I need to do more serious testing and, given the public nature of the blockchain, this process tends to be slow (I don't want to spam the public blockchain with test messages, I post only when all the previous incremental tests have been completed).

Before posting this first to do post, I tested a few custom transactions. Steem, the blockchain, allows you to post not only currency and content related transactions, but also arbitrary text. This is not as effective as a "native" transaction, because you have to wrap your data in a custom_json, decode it and parse it on the client side, but it has the advantage that it doesn't show on the public chain. If I will find a solid workflow by using this type of transaction, I may switch the ZenTasktic backend entirely on the blockchain.

If you are new to Steemit or this project, I highly encourage you to have a look at the introductory post about ZenTasktic on its own blog: The Why?.

ALL funds you send to this account - directly or by upvoting - will be used to cover development costs. At this moment I'm on the free plan of Firebase but I expect costs to rise fast once we're out of alpha and people will start using the app on a daily basis. So every upvote, resteem or donation will be greatly appreciated.
