Today I learned about Zina Portnova, who at the age of 16 killed more than 100 Nazis by poisoning their food.
Portnova lived in Belarus under the Nazi occupation in 1943. The hatred of the Germans led her to work in the kitchen, where she added poison to food for the German army.
After the soldiers began to die en masse, the suspicion fell on Portnova. In front of the Nazis, she ate the poisoned food herself to "prove" that he was not poisoned. The soldiers were persuaded to release her - and immediately she ran away to vomit.
She is considered a national hero of Belarus and Russia to this day.
