Bruno Fernandes breaks silence after Manchester United’s final defeat

Manchester United had a golden opportunity to win their first trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when they faced Villarreal in the final of the Europa League.
But the Red Devils failed to take that opportunity. The performance was not great on the night and it ended 1-1 at the end of 120 minutes as the two sides could not be separated. Then there was an incredible penalty shootout which ended 11-10 in favour of the La Liga side, with David de Gea being the only player on the pitch to miss his spot kick.

It was disappointing for both fans and players alike. This turned out to be the club’s fourth straight trophyless campaign. And while progress is being made, that is something that needs to change as soon as possible.
Following the final, Bruno Fernandes has broken his silence. The Portuguese playmaker tweeted out:

We win together and we lose together, when someone fails we all fail, when someone scores we all score, when someone does a save we all save… Always UNITED #mufc

Winning is a habit and Manchester United must start winning trophies again

Fernandes has been absolutely brilliant ever since moving to Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in January of 2020. He is one of the biggest reasons behind the progress that the club have made.

But for all of his brilliance, the club have not managed to win a trophy and it looks like there are still a few pieces of the jigsaw missing before they will start doing that.
In many ways, winning is a habit. Once a team is used to winning in big games, the experience helps them win more. During the time of Sir Alex Ferguson, winning silverware was like second nature to Manchester United. But that has not been the case for quite some time now. And the longer that this trophy drought continues, the more difficult it will be to bring it to an end. So let’s just hope that the Red Devils are back to their winning ways come next season.
