I haven't been reading much lately. So glad I decided to read this. I usually wait until I've answered a question before reading other answers too, so it was even extra inspiration to read this one.
I so identified with the retro light worker as I'm pretty sure I've been burned at the stake for being a mouthy woman more than once. Yet, I've also had a reiki master (the one who attuned me to I and II) tell me I needed to reign in my heart chakra so it wouldn't split open. There is a need for balance. I've resisted it because iv always associated that with mediocrity, preferring the roller coaster. At 43, I'm about ready for a little more mellow. We do, for sure, need the contrast in order to see where we want to go forward, but I'm definitely ready for that middle path a little more. I'm a total Star Wars geek, and I've even resisted the gray Jedi code, especially because I saw return of the Jedi in theaters. I now begin to see the wisdom, and I expect episode 9 will reflect this same evolution. It's like the great story of my life.
As a passionate mama, it hurts my heart to read all you went through, and I can't even begin to imagine watching Dexter on acid. Holy shit. Dexter freaked me out sober. I regularly had to close my eyes. I'm so glad you found your way to healing. I realize more and more how lucky I am to have had the relatively mellow childhood that I had. The long years of being awake in a dark world do begin to take a toll though.
Thanks for a super thoughtful post. May the light continue to spread and grow brighter.

I totally resonated with the retro lightworker, that actually explains an awful lot. I will hopefully be able to participate in this next time!!!

It's also great to read other people's accounts of their awakening and process of it. It seem's many of us have similar backgrounds which you don't often relate to with the people around you in real life. You start talking to people online and it's like yea, we've all been through some pretty messed up stuff, it's part of the process it seems.

That's awesome :-) I was really stoked to find that piece, it definitely seems like having an idea of those things could help give a lot of folks some context & guidance with their experiences of life.

I've definitely found that SO many of the most powerful lightworkers I know came from some pretty intensely difficult early lives. Wonderful to see how much healing and good can come from such pain.

Yea i don't think i've met any that have had it easy. It's definitely a catalyst, which brought clarity for me- Like oh it was nothing personal, it's just what i needed to wake up. Still working through the pain though, but the understanding most certainly helps.

Also thank you for recommending me into @earthtribe.

@elamental informed me and so I wish to Thank-You. I was really hoping to find like minded people on here and it really does mean a lot to be part of it, and that someone noticed my writing as being that way inclined. Takes nothing to give thanks.

Thanks :D

It surely seems to be! The pain is something I find myself ever digging up new pockets of, and personally I love hitting some old gold and just crying for days :-)

I felt you were a perfect fit right away, and I've got you on my list to bump up to @TribeSteemUp once the prices get back in order and I can start adding people again. Thanks for doing the work you're doing!

Ha! Spending days crying is all too familiar!!!

Ah that's awesome news, thanks again :) Here was me semi worried id have a negative response to some of what i may write! Good ol' conditioning! ;)

I think this is summed up beautifully in the verse of a great Hindi blessing, that we perform at the beginning of each satsung, at my local ashram.
Jyota se jyota jagavo
Sataguru jyota se jyota jagavo
Mera antara timira mitavo
Sataguru jyota se jyota jagavo
Peace.

Thank you! That certainly feels good to think that I'm aligned with some of the ancient teachings :-) Does that blessing have a name? If not I'll just translate the words, but I'd love to see if there is a specific translation for the whole piece.

Yes, it is simply called Jyota se jyota jagavo.
I've found a translation for you here;

Peace.

Awesome, thank you brother!

What a gorgeous post. I love your reference to the Upanishads, which I've been studying of late. It's funny you should mention sociopaths and your childhood - I was watching the most beautiful little doco we have here called Australian Story, and his story parellels yours. He was told he had a low IQ and was a sociopath and that defined him - he entered the forest in basic psychosis for years until he just had an ephiphany that it was him creating the world not the other way around - I mean, this guy had a tough life - and he stopped drinking and went back to school and now lecture in sociology after doing his PHD. The doco is here if you want to watch it - http://www.abc.net.au/austory/out-of-the-woods/10174310 - you might need a VPN but if you want a good story, this is it. xx

What a power post!
Your personal story is just inspiring Kenny.

Wonderfully put. I like how you mention the importance of cutting out certain music and food etc. People tend to poison their minds and bodies and then get cynical about the state of the world. It all starts with a choice to make it better and that starts with engagement with the positive. To treat everything we think or do as a step in a purposeful direction..

Lots to think about here, the 4 types of people that the Buddha talks about, to the different types of lightworker and figuring out where we are all within this, for me both light and dark are needed, we can not be whole without the other. Yes balance is so important, lots to think about here xx

We have some interesting similarities in our youths, though also some distinct differences. I think I came into the world as a lightworker by how you've defined the term here. But I also wondered at points in my teens if I was a sociopath. I think that really we are all both Christ and Hitler. Only by reconciling those two forces within us can we authentically bring out our gifts for this world.
