Witness Distillery- My Actifit Report Card: February 27 2019
We had lunch today after our workout at the Y at a fairly new establishment called Witness Distillery. Cute name, think any of our STEEM witnesses are involved? The restaurant half is named Blind Society. Now that sounds really fishy right? A WITNESS distillery ran by a BLIND SOCIETY. Can't make that stuff up, lol.
It has a bar and restaurant on one side.
On the other side is an actual distillery for the production of whiskey. They are still in the fine tuning stage and are only making test batches so far. But they were nice enough to let me in there and take a picture of the two stills.
On the wall of the restaurant, they have a couple of historic pictures about the Prohibition era. One shows when Illinois became the 36th state to ratify Prohibition.
The other one is a reproduction of an actual article printed in the St Louis Post Dispatch showing when Prohibition was repealed. Lots more partying in that one!

Nice way to build up activity points.
Going to the Y is getting boring, sigh. I'm ready for spring so we can do some outdoor stuff again. My favorite is hiking in state parks.
Wow, that is so cool! Great pictures. I’m super interested in the prohibition era and have been researching that time in history for some writing I want to do. It must have been some crazy times!
I'm sure it was, with moonshiners running amouck, and political lobbying going on. A party era with no libations (legally). Kind of reminds of drugs and legalizing pot today.
@blueeyes8960, at the beginning I thought your report would be about STEEM witnesses. Hehe.
Very interesting report. It was interesting to read about the Prohibition era in the US. Thank you for sharing with us this information and pictures.

I thought it was a funny coincidence about the distillery being named "witness". What an odd name, then Blind Society for the restaurant.
What a cool restaurant, bar and distillery in your report today. I can just imagine those days in the prohibition era. I bet lots people had little distilleries hidden in their homes/basements.
Good job with the stepping and wishing you a fun and active Thursday ahead 👍 😁

I'm sure there were lots of illegal "bootlegging" going on back then. It was an interesting period of time to read about. You have a great day as well, weekend is coming up!
Very good post, much better then my hamburger post lol

But the hamburger looked delicious on your post. I saw it in person, so I know it was! I forgot to post my lunch picture. I was having problems getting the still picture to show up the right way. It kept tilting to landscape. I don't know how many times I had to edit it! Whew.
Beautiful pictures you took friend. thanks for sharing.
Good count.

Astute observation there, haha! Looks like a fun spot to hang out. Craft breweries are all the rage here and seem to be doing really well, but I'll have to see if we have any distilleries like this, too.
Looks like an interesting place. There are lots of these places in UK now too, duel purpose, producters and restaurant or bar. Great idea!
