How l learning animation #4 | New rig and animationsteemCreated with Sketch.

I started making a turn animation and ran into a bug. The bone of the hands rotated and I could not understand why. I had to understand. Several times I created rigs for a character from scratch on different videos. I also tried the addon rigifay, but refused it. He's too complicated for my tasks. I realized that it’s better to figure it out and do it yourself. Fumbling with rigging for several days, I eventually returned to my original bug and fixed it :) Then I made an animation of the turn. I also used subdivision surface modification to character object.

I am dissatisfied with the result, but I gained the necessary experience. Now I have my rig, which I understand well. I will work with him and improve animations.

At some point, I even started to get angry ... My only few hours a day was passing and nothing done. But then it becomes clear that this is not how it works. This is experience and practice! The brain began to feel more confident with both bones and weight distribution. Understanding has come! Let`s continue to work!

Looks great, I am slowly but surely learning Blender myself and will follow your progress.

Stupid question, did you check to make sure all your parenting was done properly? And sometimes if you check the bone roll settings (I don't know if it's still relevant with current version of Blender) and make sure it's 0 that used to be a thing that helped (but I don't know how or why).

Otherwise looks like your rig is coming along nicely :)

I learned exactly enough rigging to know how to do it and learn how much I hated it XD so I use rigify and modify it :)

At some stage when you're not concentrating on rigging check your polyflow around the hips/thighs and shoulders to help your deformations (hopefully you find it easier than I am, I'm still struggling a bit).

I think I got what you mean. I think such nuances are just practice and further attempts to make the animation better. At the moment, I do not strive for the ideal. I need a working prototype.

I decided not to use rigify yet because I need to learn how to animate everything I need. Not only humans and animals. Creatures, different enemies, mechanisms, etc.

Yay!
