The Bilby shows Not all Australian Animals are cute or want to kill You

in #australia7 years ago (edited)

The Bilby is one of the lesser known Australian marsupials, they’re not conventionally cute with their long nose and long ears but their survival is more highly threatened than some of the better known marsupials such as Koalas, kangaroos and Tasmanian Devils. They face same threats as the other Australian native animals of habitat destruction and especially predators such as feral fox’s and cats.

The Save The Bilby fund have found creative ways to raise funds including the Easter Bilby chocolates;

but they’ve fallen short this year and need to raise $50,000 before the end of the year.

I have just made a AU$25 donation and I hope you can spare a few dollars toward preserving this wonderful little Aussie Battler, if you can help go to http://savethebilbyfund.org/ and click on the donate button. Or at least share this post so more people learn about the Bilby.

But, they are cute...

Glad you think so.
Isn’t the definition of cute, ugly but interesting

I think they are awesome little critters, cheers.

Thanks. They are awesome critters.

Shared since this little animal obviously needs help, it is the plight of so many due to human intrusion and disturbance of the land.

I think they're cute. Native animals often have the the thin noses. My daughter loves spotted Quolls but for me it has to be the Bandicoot. Not endangered but when I was living in the country they became frequent visitors to my place. I always feel blessed to be trusted by a wild creature.

It was from Bilbies I learnt that animals with large ears often life in desert areas. Good luck with your fund raising. I have noticed that the Bilbies were less evident last Easter.

Spotted Quolls are a favourite of mine as well, there is a movement to allow them to be kept as pets to take the place of cats.

I think its time we keep some native animals instead of cats.
