That day I got my ass kicked during Steem Fest
It was November 9th, the second day of the Steem Fest conferences and I arrived to the venue at 4 pm. Yeah, I missed most of the conferences and I regret that very much. When I got to the venue, some people already knew what had happened the night before and asked me if I was ok (or maybe they just wanted to see my injuries, who knows) and this caught me off-guard since I only told a few people what happened.
I went straight to see @theaustrianguy, our Steemian Doctor for him to check out my injuries and to get some advice from him about whether I should or shouldn´t visit a doctor.
I´m a bit stubborn and silly when it comes to injuries, I always walk them off unless they are really serious and a visit to the doctor can´t be avoided. His words: I wouldn´t worry about the injury but this can definitely get infected, and an infection in that place could go wrong very easily, you should visit a doctor as soon as possible.
Well, that was my cue to leave the venue and miss the other conferences and dinner time :(
Ok, I need to rewind the tape to the night before so you get the full story
After the first day of conferences, we had dinner in the same venue and after that, we all as a Steem Family went bowling, it´s worth mentioning my team (and I) wasn´t as good as we hoped but still, I had a blast playing with @travelgirl, @bugavi, and @zlatan-spielberg.
After the bowling bananas, we decided to hit the alchemia bar, the one that would prove to be our home pub during these days. But then, the Spanish speaking crew told me "Hey, let´s get out of here, let´s go to a proper club" and I couldn´t say no, after all these guys are my friends and I was looking forward to have a night out with them, the crew was @pgarcgo, @gargon, @tincho, @pablocordero, @zlatan-spielberg and me.
It was a regular night out, it was early and none of us was drunk, we had a few beers at the bowling place and perhaps some wine during dinner but nothing out of the ordinary. We took a Taxi from Alchemia to the Club zone and started walking.
We met a dude on the street, one of those who invites you to a strip club, and altough we denied his invitation, we asked him for a good club around there. He took us to LOKAL, supposedly one of the best in the area. We noticed some beautiful girls smokoing outside and we heard the music coming from inside and we decided to go inside.
As Spaniards and Latinos, we are loud and easy going. Apparently and from what I heard afterwards, some Polish people - not all of them -, especially bouncers, are racist. The bouncer received us like this:
Bouncer: "There is no reggaeton here and no slutty girls, you don´t like this music, go somewhere else".
@anomadsoul: "Dude that´s very racist, we also like pop music, we want to go in this place".
Bouncer: Oh really? Well, that would be 40 zloty per person.
We knew he was just trying to get some cash or maybe make us go somewhere else
@zlatan-spielberg: Oh yeah, that´s no issue, here is 300 sloty, keep the change.
The bouncer, highly irritated now, lets us in
We were having a good time, not the best of times but still, it was fun. We had one beer and some of the crew went to the dance floor to see what´s up. I stayed at the bar near the entrance to see what´s up around here.
Note: "See what´s up" means trying to meet some Polish girls, in case you missed the memo.
I think we had only been there for less than half an hour when I notice one of the bouncers is choking @zlatan-spielberg from behind and taking him out. I went straight there not with the intention of fighting but to ask what´s going on and to clarify that he can go out by himelf, he doesn´t need to be choked like that.
When I reached them, I felt someone grabing me from behind and starting to choke me and just when I knew what was happening I fel someone else grabbing my arm from one side and as if it wasn´t enough, another bouncer started hitting me.
He swang four punches to my face. I was able to parry one of them and to dodge another one - even with the two guys holding and choking me - but I got two punched two times in the face, I got a bit dizzy and lowered my guard, that´s when I got thrown out of the club, all while getting punches on my side and slaps on my back.
@zlatan-spielberg also got thrown out and the rest of our crew went out with us. I was beelding heavily from my lip and I though it was just a minor injury. I went to the guy who punched me and I told him just a few words that would later come to be true, but that´s another story. Let´s say the guy is jobless now.
I wanted to go home but it was still very early, as I said, the night was just starting so we decided to go somewhere else.
I went to the restroom to try and clean the injury and that´s when I noticed it wasn´t a minor one:
Yeah, that´s gonna leave a scar - I thought. And I was right, I still have the scar today and I hate it, I hope I can find a cream or something to smooth it up.
I wanted to go home, I stayed for maybe half an hour in the new place and then I got a taxi.
I got home and slept for about 18 hours. I was tired and I guess my body needed to recover...
So yeah, that´s the reason why you see pictures of me without beard, and you also see picture of me with a full lumberjack beard. I had to shave in order to not get the injury infected and because I needed to clean it constantly, doctors orders.
Fuck!!!! I only just heard about this incident as im now staying in krakow.. Thats well fucked up man!
The first place i went to was alchemia, i always chech what stickers are on the doors from outside and judge the place purely on that, and theres one at alchemia saying in bold letters EQUALITY, so thats where i also have been hanging out mainly for the internet at to drink tea.
Really sounds like chaos that night huh!
I still havent seen any steemit stickers around krakow though as i thought i would do 😁 even though you got a smashed up lip, it could have been much worse without the duckin' and diving that you did 😀
Got a picture of the bouncers to slap on blockchain?
I notice here and its like in some other countrys, if you ask to speak english they all say NO very rudly.. Even the women at the train station ticket office tried to tell me they were closed and didnt want to be helpful..
This country still has mental scars much like in germany, hitler mught be dead(?) but his heart is still alive in a minority. As a guy with dreads, i have been getting looks from people but i dont do nightclubs anymore because you may aswell call them ego clubs and its boring. In uk when i had a shaved head it was even the same just every night was trouble but my home town is notoriously rough for this..
They were definatly just gelous you got a tan i bet!
Im suprised they even commented on latino music and knew that reggaton is hispanic even. A note for the future and something i learn from travels is that if your away from home just get the hint when your not welcome,it saves so much hassle lol!
I will carry my beloved tool with me from now on if i go out drinkin her, im staying another 2 months and have only seen white people, and none of them with alternative styles..

Hey! Hit me up on discord and we can chat about it :D
Oh man, that's shit... i was known there was something happened but that's a sick story. all the best buddy ^^
i don't really know if i would like to write down my experience this night...
Ahahaha I´m pretty sure your story would also get some interest if it´s the one I´m thinking about :P
Awe!!! @rivalzzz, one of my two favourite twins! DO tell!!! Hey, you all know my damn 'got hit by car' and 'cried at good-bye' stories... It's only fair to hear yours 😁
DAmn, de verdad son asi esas personas?! o.o
Espero te recuperes pronto hahah una herida de guerra, que bueno que estas bien
Oh shit I heard that you got beaten up, but the story ..
With all respect to polish people - I had a similar feeling that "foreigners" aren't welcome. Even though many of my ancestors are polish, I didn't feel welcome at all, and actually didn't feel safe for my girlfriend who was with me.
Many people on the internet try to justify rightwing-culture & politics (you just have to look under politic relevant videos on youtube), but especially after feeling it myself, I don't think this should be tolerated at all.
If countries don't want foreigners, then I won't go there, but that's their loss - not mine.
Alright, I got a bit digressed - hope everything healed fine (even though you have a scar now.
Let's make sure next SF location is a bit more friendly to latinos and spaniards (and hopefully warm) :D
Wow, I am so sorry to hear you and your girl had this feeling @therealwolf. I have to say, most people I met were really friendly, especially the police and ambulance staff that were dealing with me and the guy that drove into me. But that being said: that guy was something else...didn't even try to see how I was doing. The guy that was playing the music at the karaoke place, still thought he was in communist Poland though, very angry man... Other than that, people were friendly enough, but maybe because they were all providing a service, so not being nice would cost them money...
You are absolutely right ;) I'm a Polish guy who live in UK since 2007 and I just knew what mentality Polish people who live in Poland have :) it only looks welcome in the first place but at the end of the day its not :)

Oh man yeah, I remember you told me something about your Polish ancestry. And yeah, that was not the only time I felt like I wasn´t welcomed, as a matter of fact I felt it quite frequently but then again, I look very latino haha.
I don´t mind people being nationalist and protective of their culture, but there´s no need to be rude or aggresive with people who are clearly tourists who are there to spend, not migrants looking to live off of welfare.
I don´t think I´m going back to Poland especially because of this, if they don´t want money from foreigners, they won´t get it, as simple as that.
Ahaha imagine a SF in Cancun next year :P
Oh man that looks horrible! I could swear this is a stab wound instead of a punch. I mean that can't be done with bare hands can it? Damn, this really sucks, are you ok now? These things are shitty, and I'm glad to read the guy is now jobless as this should not be unpunished! <3
One of my theories is exactly that, that the dude was using a ring or something to inflict more damage than the usual punch :/ I´m ok now, just hoping it won´t leave a permanent mark!! Thank you for your words :)
I haven't heard about it Man :o. Thats why when we've been in a club on Friday I was always looking around if everyone are safe. Also took my camera with me just in case if I have to use it as a "weapon" 😝 Later on we've got that "reserved area" so it was cool 😎 I'm a Polish guy living in UK since 2007 and I just knew that stuff like that happening all the time in Poland especially in the clubs when you are from abroad and looks like it as well.
Look after yourself Brotha 👊

Yeah man, that night in the club was pretty cool huh? It´s funny how we ended up in that corner with everyone dancing and that Gin bottle one of the steemians bought for everyone. I knew it was like that, but I didn´t know the bouncers would blatantly hit someone and not just kick them out of the place but well, I guess it was just bad luck.
Hey man. That is so shity. I can't beleive that I didn't get a chance to ask you about it properly afterwards, but we were kind of running on different sleep times lol. It is so crap that it was a bunch a fckn racists bouncers who sucker punched you and I didn't realize that they jumped your bro first. I knew Poland was a bit of a racist country in places but had heard that Krakow was more tolerant than other places in Poland because tourists are so important to the city.
It gets me so mad that there are still ignorant assholes like that around. I hope that they do lose their jobs. I hope the injury is healing up well mate.
Ha ha, I think you know mine. Lol, I got all the wildness out of the way on the first night 🤣
That's a proper hole, ouch.
There's something else to tell, besides him losing his job...? I sense a part two.
Oh, not something to mention on the blockchain but yes, I´m glad he lost his job, people like him shouldn´t be punching customers around as if it was some fighting club :P It was great meeting you man, I wish we could´ve spent more time chatting but as you can see, I missed the whole second venue :(
Have to agree,, next time we will chat more.. a lot more.
Oh my, that injury on your mouth. Luckily you're okay in the end and finish up SteemFest!!
Speedy recovery @anomadsoul
Yeah! I would never miss the end of Steem Fest! Especially because it happened in the second night :)
