Mutual Aid a funadamental basis of capitalism supported by an "anarchist" 109

in #capitalism7 years ago

Thanks to @freebornangel I was made aware of a self proclaimed "anarchist" Pëtr Kropotkin who wrote Mutual Aid: A Factor of Evolution

There is a nice quote in this that says:

"We all know that without uprightness, without self-respect, without sympathy and mutual aid, human kind must perish, as perish the few races of animals living by rapine, or the slave-keeping ants. But such ideas are not to the taste of the ruling classes, and they have elaborated a whole system of pseudo-science to teach the contrary."

Yes without capitalism many of us would perish or struggle greatly.

I think if you do believe in capitalism then I think you would have to believe in mutual aid a fundamental basis of capitalism.

Theoretically we could survive as individuals but we as a society benefit from mutual aid. When you conduct a transaction under capitalism it does have a fundamental basis in mutual aid. You do not work as a wage slave unless you feel it benefits you as a "greedy" employee and your boss does not hire you unless he feels it benefits him as a greedy employer. Hence mutual aid.

@asonintrigue this seems to be your alley.

Upvote my comments in other people's threads so it makes their vote count too? I didn't know that and I will start doing it.

The main thing is if somebody upvotes you and it shows .02 or less than you should for sure self upvote. You might want to self upvote on other blog posts as well though so you ride to the top. Currently this upvote is worthless. If you self upvote it you might help them get curation rewards.

Steemit is very complicated. I think we need bettter training. For all I know the price of steem might be at $10 or $20 right now if people understood how it worked.

steem is a fickle bitch with so many quirks and layers.

You should self upvote. My solo votes don't count.

Lol, you still got a ways to go
People take jobs at the lowest wage possible not because it suits them, but because it is preferable to starving under a bridge in winter.

Paying the lowest wages possible while selling at the highest profit is hardly mutually beneficial.

That 'so called' anarchist wrote the books that are the foundations of anarchism.
I hope you keep reading, there are many more fine cherries to be picked.

A lot of people don't take jobs because they don't need to. Most people could work more if they wanted to.

Most businesses fail.

Feel free to help yourself and upvote yourself.

in the first world maybe. your scope is narrow.

Without capitalism there would often be little hope for the 3rd world. Look at China as an example.

China is revisionist.

The USSR increased the living standards of it's people exponentially. It literally took a nation of illiterate peasants and in one generation sent the first person to space.

I think China used capitalism to become a powerhouse just like the USA did.

I'm not aware of much success in the USSR other than the space program.

Quality of life is better in under socialism.

This paper that I've linked you proves it.

You're unaware because the capitalist class doesn't want you to know.

Yeah in the short term socialism is always better. Venezuela and the USSR had some great times before the collapse. The USA is also doing great right now under most measures but we are heading for collapse.

I think in general democracies lead to more socialism and eventually a collapse.
