Unexpected meeting.

I had a meeting out of state and had just flown far there. I was running a bit late. And then on my way through the concourse I saw a few together holding a sign that said “Leonard Nimoy”.

Well. That was worth stopping for. I said hello, you’re waiting for Nimoy?! And I shit you not the college student young woman said “Oh, is that you?”.

A lot of stuff flashed through my mind at that point.

I said “Do you not know who you’re waiting for?”

No, we know he’s famous but he’s coming to help our fundraiser for women’s issues and we don’t know what he looks like.

So, you’re In Search Of him? Nothing. It’s a search for him? Nope.

Well, I was happy to volunteer for their organization that day. 🤣

Soon enough, the unmistakable figure came walking towards us. I didn’t see where he came from, probably a gate but I also wonder if he beamed in.

That voice. So distinctive. I shook his hand, told him I studied physics and became a teacher and his charterer had a lot to do with that. He reacted with delight, graciousness, and as if it were the first time he had ever heard it. He thanked me and asked me a question or two. I didn’t ask for an autograph. I told him I didn’t want to keep him and I introduced him to the ladies who were waiting for him to take him to his event, thanked him for his socially important work and left him to his path, until our next encounter in another alternate universe.
