RE: Crowd-incubation for growth in the Steem ecosystem: Developer Delegation Day #5
I know one of the authors infovore supports and I believe he’s genuine (in the World of Sports community).
My downvoting power’s shot at the minure but it doesn’t mean I can’t look at those accounts 👍
Did you see my note about Steemit URLs? It was only a mention so you might have missed it.
This is why I didn't just automatically countervote them. I don't want to catch genuine people in the crossfire. The ones I've observed have been engaged in plain-vanilla plagiarism, though.
This one?
I like it. The only possible drawback I see is the possible confusion of clicking into a post in a community and seeing an unpredictable tag instead of the community account in the address bar. Which means that communities will have inconsistent URL formats - unless they agree to use a specific string as the first tag.
The way that the canonical reference for the site name worked, we still see (for example), the steemit.com URL that we'd expect in the address bar but the hidden code would tell the search engines where the canonical source was - which is what I was also imagining here.
However, the page and the feed still show the post as being in the community, so probably not much of a problem.

I don't think it would be confusing because as you say, there are enough indicators within the page (and I suspect most people don't pay much attention to the URL).
The downside with this is that without a link to the canonical URL elsewhere in the site, Google (and probably other search engines) wouldn't have the canonical URL indexed - which according to ChatGPT, would have a detrimental affect upon SEO.
This feels like a really sweet solution and has been fairly straightforward to implement. Incidentally, the first tag on your posts was different to the default - do you use a different interface to post your content?

Yeah, I generally post through upvu after Steemit changed their ToS some time back. The phrasing now is ambiguous, but I prefer the side-by-side editor, anyway.

I was able to cater for the difference - but I needed 2 extra lines of code! 😲
