RE: Alternatives Frontend so lange steemit Probleme hat: SteemitDev.com

in #deutsch9 months ago

How long has the site been online?

That site has been online for at least 5 or 6 years, I think. Maybe longer. They used it for testing in advance of hardforks and when they were working on SMTs. No idea why I didn't think to check it sooner.

Oh yes: by the way, we should get used to using relative links anyway.

Definitely. I made that a habit when SteemPeak was here. It's really annoying when you're browsing on one site and the URL redirects you to another. Upvu solves this by intercepting "steemit.com" links, but that's not really ideal because sometimes you really do want the full URL and the intercepts make that impossible.

Sort:

They used it for testing

That's what I would have thought. But then why isn't the caching tested on this site first before it is released on steemit.com!? Does anyone understand that!?

Yes, I've noticed that too. I don't like that either, just like any changes to the HTML/Markdown of the posts...

Nope. I remember that API restrictions, and then caching, were implemented after some sort of dDOS attack against hivemind back in August/September, so maybe they thought it was low risk and urgent, but that's wild speculation on my part.
