RE: Getting Wrapped at the Doighouse Build
Its not overkill! The build i helped with in the uk had even more than double the insulation than this with additional spray foam filling even the tiniest gaps between pieces. U need this level of insulation if u want the best performance and minimal requirement to heat it! Code is not good enough because they dont mind you heating your home.. this is one reason why earthships can have a negative foodtprint! Performance is off the charts!
Oh, that foam-spray was well discussed here as well. In the end we opted against it, but made sure to fill the gaps with the cut-off pieces. It's the drainage I personally think is a bit much, particularly since the roof is going to harvest water, and it covers most of the insulated berm. But since doing something is worth doing well, an overkill is not a problem.
yeah that foam is also nasty stuff.. SO chemically... im sure it will be fine also. if u are in an extreme climate then it might be a good idea..
and yes man .. overkill is the best idea... you Never know what nature may throw at you.. Look at Kerala this past two weeks.. ! I like Armageddon proof ;-0
