A recent research has tried to find the exact amount of time that a physical activity should be practiced to maintain brain health. The University of Miami School of Medicine believes that the figure is 52 hours of physical activity in six months. In their experiments, published in the journal Neurology, the elderly analyzed (around 11,000 participants) improved their mental agility and cognitive functions. On average, people exercised about an hour three times a week, and with that they also improved their ability to solve problems and process information.

What exercise to perform?

The author of the paper, said that the important thing is not the modality, but perseverance and regularity in practice and that the benefit is obtained with any type of activity, either aerobic (such as walking, running or riding a bicycle) as also with resistance exercises.

"There is a range of hours of physical activity that get benefits for the brain, but what makes our work clear is that in order to improve the health of the brain we have to expose it regularly to physical activity." - Dr. Gomes Osamn explained.

Saludos!!!
